This is bound to draw some good attention to the fact that all these election commissions are just cover-up and white-wash engines of the neocons.
Good for Mr. Soaries ... now if Baker would just resign from the latest election coverup committee ...

re #2:
Baker will probably not resign because he is part of what is being covered up.

With the $$$ saved by underfunding the Commission, think how much democracy we can export to Iraq and Iran!

True with number two. If Baker resigns then it'd show they are covering it up and using President Carter. Interesting to know they had nothing to work with and were just there. They were probably being given what to say etc.

Thank you, Mr. Soaries. Obviously, not all Baptists are right-wing ideologues who defend the Bush administration at every turn.
I agree that it sheds an amber light on the Baker group. Not that Baker will resign (loyal foxes don't leave the henhouse), but it does make Pastor look even more foolish for defending the commission because "the Republicans won." Good news!

What a house of cards. A ship of fools.
The sham is so obvious, and they are in a cage with millions of eyes watching and seeing through them all.

Dr. Reverend Soaries was the commissioner of the commision until January. He was the one that wrote Tom Ridge the letter that complained "Unlike New York, the federal government has no agency that has the statutory authority to cancel and reschedule a federal election."
Hopefully they'll replace him with someone who is actually familiar with the Constitution (Article 2 Section 1 specifically grants Congress the power to do such a thing). But I doubt anyone working for the Bush Aministration is familiar with the Constitution.

Same kind of thing is happening with Bu$h's plan for No Child Left Behind. Seems the admin is being sued for that because they came up with the stipulations of the legislation and then did not fund it.
This is like playing Jenga.

whoa... hold your horses everyone. The Election Assistance Commission is not the same group as the National Election Reform Commission.
The resignation is important, but it is unrelated to current Brad Blog/Velvet Revolution campaign to oust Baker, Hearne, etc.
Here's some context on what Soaries is complaining about.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Ben G.
The Election Assistance Commission seems to at least have a known reason for being: per the article, it was created by the Help America Vote Act.
The genesis of the Baker/Carter Election "Reform" commission remains a mystery.

Guess who the EAC selected as a representative of voter advocacy organizations, for their February Hearing into Provisional Voting Reform, none other than John Fund the distorter of facts.
Apart from his obvious talent as a complete idiot, [clip from his testimony to the Rove/Baker Electoral Reform Commission] Fund has no claim whatsoever to represent voter advocacy organizations unless of coarse they're fake "GOP front" groups like ACVR.
Do any of the 6 or 7 squad think it may be worthwhile attempting to establish a dialogue with the recently "retired" DeForest Soaries?

Bushw@cker #19 I think that it would be an excellent idea to try to get him to associate with VR.
That is because VR is non-partisan in the sense that what VR wants is good for every voter.
A paper trail that logs everything that goes on during election day on a voting machine can do nothing but make everyone of all parties feel better about elections.
I mean every honest voter is going to consider it better when the exit polls match the official results. Like it always has before the neocon controlled elections of 2000 and 2004.
So, yes, very good idea!

Remember at BBV during Dec/Jan when Bev Harris commented that we have to state clearly that we get a Verified Voter Paper Ballot, not just a Paper Trail - it's the legal language that must be clear otherwise they will be able to allow the machine to spit out a receipt that might not really reflect the internal data of the voting machine.
Sorry I'm in a real hurry & no time to look up the original link at BBV. Thought you might remember since it was a legal discussion.

DID you know or remember that BOLTON, Bush choice for un, was in south korea during Nov 7 2000 vote scam in Florida , and was ordered to Florida by James Baker to stop the vote counting in miami dade county, and he did so. Look up old articles and see for yourself. Now Baker scams the
nation and Bolton will scam the world.
Congrates on all your progress Mr. Brad......Living History, ain't it great.......You ARE a HERO, a real
man, KICK ass with TRUTH. Makes me so happy,
terrified, but happy for truth

Hi, all. This is my first post ever, although I have been lurking in the shadows for some time. After Nov.2 I just followed my outrage to the Bradblog, and I am, by the way, one of the 6 or 7 group.
I found these quotes (following a link posted on Democrats.com) in an article posted on The Nation, titled Bush's War on the Press by Eric Alteman.
As an unnamed Bush official told reporter Ron Suskind, "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality--judiciously, as you will--we'll act again creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to study what we do." For those who don't like it, another Bush advisor explained, "Let me clue you in. We don't care. You see, you're out numbered two to one by folks in the big, wide middle of America, busy working people who don't read the New York Times or Washington Post or the LA Times."
Disturbing, yes? My point is that it seems Brad has caught them mid-reality creation by exposing ACVR, igniting a firestorm directed at the National Election Reform Commission.
Sorry I wasn't able to provide a link, and yes, I have read Winter Patriot's instructions, I just didn't want to try anything "fancy" with my first post.

Thanks for the post, MBeau, one of the ORIGINAL 6 or 7. I certainly believe that is their attitude. Had concluded that myself from the way they were behaving. The bigger they are, the harder they fall...I am looking forward to the day...

The Election Assistance Commission was supposed to
develop standards for the voting machines funded under the
Help America Vote Act.
Legislation in the House (Holt) and in the Senate
(Clinton-Boxer) that would have outlawed unverifiable voting
machines was shunted off into Committee limbo by the
Republicans, and the EAC was sabotaged through inadequate
funding ($10 billion authorized, and $1 million approproated) so
they could have only a staff of seven. They couldn't do their
job.
That's how we wound up with 40 million unverifiable black box
votes.

They are very arrogant and trying to get rid of the filibuster and turn us into a theocracy slowly but surely. They've been waiting for this time for thirty years to where they can do whatever they want. Very scary times indeed. That's why, I think, it's important to find out the truth about the fraud and get these people out of office before too much damage is done.

Don't have much time lately, just adopted a 2 yr. old dog from a shelter who needs a LOT of supervision.
Just read Emily #29 & thought about this true story I heard a couple of days ago ... in Atlanta, GA, a couple (unmarried) who had recently moved into a new neighborhood became concerned because they weren't receiving their mail. They contacted their mailman who told them they were living illegally and he wouldn't deliver any mail to them because they had different last names.
These are certainly weird times.

Hi, Kira - I am a dog-lover (and cat-lover) too. So glad you got him/her from a shelter. That's where I got my Cleo(patra) 11 years ago. She's so loyal and loving. They are such great companions...little "guardian angels", as I call them.
