'BradCast' 7/4/2024 (Encore: NatSec journalist Marcy Wheeler on Julian Assange plea deal)
07-04-2024 (53.4 MB)
Encore: original airdate 6-25-2024. On today's 'BradCast': WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange struck a plea deal with the U.S. Dept. of Justice and will go free, four years after Donald Trump's DOJ charged him with hacking and releasing a trove of stolen classified documents beginning in 2010, and with publishing emails allegedly hacked by Russian intelligence to interfere with the 2016 election. Some of the initial documents exposed alleged war crimes by the U.S., but later document dumps had no news value and put people in grave danger. Independent national security journalist MARCY WHEELER explains the complex and nuanced record of Assange, and clears up serious misconceptions about Wikileaks and Assange's actions. Also today: Far-right Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) is already alleging his razor-thin primary race must have been rigged, without evidence or even waiting for a recount. Plus Desi Doyen has our latest 'Green News Report.'
