'BradCast' 6/5/2017: (Guest: John Nichols of The Nation)
06-05-2017 (54.33 MB)
Donald Trump seems determined to make certain he loses his appeal at the U.S. Supreme Court to restore his Executive Order 'travel ban' which has been put on hold, repeatedly, by federal courts from Maryland to Hawaii. In a weekend-long Twitter tirade extending through Monday, the President has offered one statement after another that will be held against his own Dept. of Justice in that case. He also thought it wise, for reasons few can figure out, to disparage (at least twice!) the Mayor of London following the terror attacks in Britain over the weekend. And while he had much to say about London, he had far less to say last week when two men were killed defending Muslim women in Portland, Oregon against a tirade from a self-identified American 'patriot' on a train, and absolutely nothing to say, so far, following a mass shooting rampage on Monday morning in Orlando, Florida. That attack, with a semi-automatic pistol, killed five of the alleged shooter's former co-workers, all said to have been shot in the head multiple times by the assailant. Then we're joined by John Nichols of The Nation who says now is the time to begin the effort to impeach Donald Trump. He explains why, and why the Democrats are wrong to put it off until a later time (if ever). We also discuss the national Democratic party's failure to adequately support their candidates in special U.S. House elections in recent weeks, and whether they've learned any lessons in advance of upcoming U.S. House special elections set for both Georgia and South Carolina later this month.
