On today's 'BradCast':  A new decision from the Republicans' stolen and packed US Supreme Court is a very ominous sign.  The 6-3 ruling in 'Jones v. Mississippi' shatters established court precedent that had prevented minors from being charged with life in prison without the possibility of parole, in all but the most extraordinary circumstances. Ace legal reporter MARK JOSEPH STERN of Slate explains the shocking details of the case, and the appalling majority opinion written by Justice Brett Kavanaugh that consigns hundreds of people who committed crimes as children to dying behind bars. The newly emboldened rightwing activist justices on the U.S. Supreme Court simply pretended the precedent didn't exist, a position so egregiously unfounded and cruel in its jurisprudence that Justice Sonya Sotomayor called out the majority in a scathing dissent. Most troubling, the twisted legal reasoning of Kavanaugh's opinion portends that we are likely to see even more disturbing decisions that also trash and overturn similarly long-held precedents. Stern also reports on President Biden's commission to study federal court reforms, and a newly emboldened rightwing state Supreme Court majority in Florida that further exposes the GOP's Big Lies that they oppose 'judicial activism' and Big Government. Stern warns that this week's decisions are likely a stark preview of worse still to come from the Court before the session ends in June.
