'BradCast' 2/15/2021 (Bipartisan Senate Majority finds Trump guilty of inciting insurrection + more)

02-15-2021 (53.03 MB)

On today's 'BradCast':  In his second Senate Impeachment Trial over the weekend, Donald Trump was found guilty of inciting the deadly January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol by a huge, bipartisan 57 to 43 verdict in the U.S. Senate.  Seven Republicans joined all of the Democrats to convict Trump for his attempt to overthrow the U.S. Government and the 2020 Presidential election, but because the vote did not meet the required two-thirds majority threshold, the disgraced former president was 'acquitted' of the charge.  Even Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was forced to admit that, yes, Trump incited the violence at the Capitol, but he voted 'not guilty' under the false, debunked pretex that it would be unconstitutional  to hold a trial after an official has left office -- a grotesque claim since McConnell was the one who prevented the trial from happening while Trump was still in office. We cover the proceedings, the vote, and the fallout in detail today.  Also today:  a catastrophic winter storm brought crippling snow, record cold and widespread power outages to millions, particularly in Texas, amid the ongoing COVID pandemic, halting efforts to distribute COVID vaccinates. The Biden Administration quietly withdrew Trump-era work requirements for Medicaid, and has re-opened access to the Healthcare.gov exchange to accommodate new 'ObamaCare' signups during massive unemployment wrought by the pandemic. New polls show the American public overwhelmingly supports passage of Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID relief and stimulus package. Progressive lawmakers successfully blocked potential cuts to the promised $1,400 relief checks that were pushed by Republicans and some conservative Democrats.  Listeners weigh in on whether they think Trump will face real accountability for his many crimes, and much more...
