'BradCast' 4/29/2022 (Guest: International Relations Prof. Nicholas Grossman on the false choice between war and peace in Ukraine)
04-29-2022 (53.63 MB)
On today's 'BradCast': Putin's war in Ukraine rages on, increasing fears that it could expand and embroil the world in a nuclear World War III. The European Union says it is moving closer to a ban on Russian oil. That's potentially good news for Ukraine, bad news for Russia, and also negative news for American consumers because it will likely spike energy prices further. Anti-war advocates are critical of US and NATO allies for supplying Ukraine with more weapons of war, rather than demanding that Ukraine make concessions to end Russia's brutal invasion and prevent it from growing into a larger conflict. Professor NICHOLAS GROSSMAN, international relations expert and political scientist at the University of Illinois, explains why he believes that is a false choice, and why arming Ukraine is, in fact - - at least right now - - the best path to peace. Grossman offers nuanced insights into a number of scenarios that may unfold in Russia's war on Ukraine in the weeks and months to come. Also today: Several states, labor unions and environmental groups have sued to block the US Postal Service's plans to buy 150,000 new gas-guzzling mail delivery trucks, alleging the plan launched by corrupt Donald Trump's corrupt Postmaster General Louis DeJoy violates federal laws. A New York judge again rejected Donald Trump's bid to slither out of providing documents in the New York Attorney General's civil probe into allegations he and his company committed tax, bank, and insurance fraud.
