'BradCast' 5/10/2022 (Guest: Attorney John Bonifaz on ballot eligibility challenges against insurrectionist U.S. House candidates)

05-10-2022 (53.38 MB)

On today's 'BradCast':  New fallout from the leaked draft majority ruling by the GOP's stolen-and-packed rightwing U.S. Supreme Court majority that overturns the landmark ruling Roe v. Wade and revokes women's constitutional right to abortion care. Now even Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), who prevoiusly called himself 'pro-life', says he will vote for the Women's Health Protection Act in the Senate to codify abortion rights into federal law. New polls reaffirm that the vast majority of Americans do NOT want Roe overturned, and indicate that voters prefer a generic Democratic candidate over a generic Republican by a 5-point margin, and the gap grows even larger when asked about anti-choice GOP candidates. Mark Esper, Donald Trump's former Defense Secretary, now says that he believes Trump is a 'threat to democracy.' Speaking of threats to democracy, Constitutional law expert JOHN BONIFAZ, President and co-founder of the non-profit, non-partisan good governance group Free Speech for People (FSFP), explains the latest twists and turns in efforts brought by voters challenging the eligibility of elected officials who 'engaged in insurrection' in violation of the Constitution's 'Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause' (14th Amendment, Section 3). The group is representing voters challenging Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) and Arizona Republican Reps. Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs, and AZ State Rep. Mark Finchem. Plus Desi Doyen has our latest 'Green News Report.'
