On today's 'BradCast': The U.S. Supreme Court is about to change this nation for a generation, and not for the better. Slate's ace legal reporter MARK JOSEPH STERN explains the astronomical stakes for civil, voting and reproductive rights in the U.S. that could all be dismantled by Donald Trump's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, making Barrett the sixth rightwing justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. No nominee has ever been named this close to a Presidential election in U.S. history. More than 20 states are already voting in this year's Presidential election, and polls show huge majorities of Americans want the winner of the November election to name the next justice. Stern reports that Trump has explicitly said he wants Barrett to be seated in time to throw the election to him in election disputes if necessary, and Republicans are shamefully obliging.
