'BradCast' 6/20/2023 (Espionage Act Hoarders, Liars and Whistleblowers; Daniel Ellsberg in memoriam)
06-20-2023 (53.3 MB)
On today's 'BradCast': President Biden's son, Hunter, has agreed to plead guilty to two minor tax-related misdemeanors, and will be allowed to avoid jail on a rarely prosecuted gun-related charge that likely would never have been prosecuted but for the fact that he is Joe Biden's son and Donald Trump weaponized his Dept. of Justice against his political rivals. Trump over the weekend continued to undermine his own defense on 37 federal criminal charges for willful retention of national defense information, while offering a rotisserie of ever-changing excuses for breaking the law and lying about the Espionage Act and Presidential Records Act. But there are many Americans who have been charged and imprisoned under the Espionage Act for doing far less than Trump is accused of doing who have received far harsher treatment than Trump. NSA contractor Reality Winner, who exposed one document detailing Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election and 'acted out of love for what this country stands for,' was sentenced to five years in prison. A different American whistleblower and hero, Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the 'Pentagon Papers' report to the media detailing U.S. lies and atrocities in the Vietnam War, has passed away at 92. Ellsberg became an inspirational anti-war and anti-nuclear advocate as well as a supporter of whistleblowers like Reality Winner, Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden. He was also a longtime friend of both this show and The BRAD BLOG, and remains a hero to many. Also today: A 'plague of locusts' of sorts is underway in Nevada. Plus Desi Doyen has our latest 'Green News Report.'
