On today's 'BradCast': A grab bag of American corruption, autocracy and fascism. A new report ranking levels of corruption among 180 countries finds the US became more corrupt after the 2016 election, citing 'persistent attacks against free and fair elections,' corrupt campaign finance system, and other factors. The U.S. economy under President Biden is booming, growing 5.7 percent in 2021, the best calendar year growth since 1984, but good luck finding news about it due to lopsided corporate media coverage. Analysis shows the corporate media really do treat Democratic administrations more harshly than Republican administrations, gushing about economic data under Trump but dismissing identical economic data under Biden. Virginia's rightwing Gov. Glenn Youngkin introduced a tip-line for parents to report to the state any teachers who teach students about racism or anything that parents find 'uncomfortable' or objectionable. The rising tide of Republican snowflakes seeking safe spaces has turned ominous in Tennessee, where a school board banned the Pulitzer-prize winning graphic novel MAUS, a true story about the Holocaust, from the school's 8th grade curriculum. It's unclear if the school board is aware of the irony of banning books that teach about the history and horrors of the book-banning Nazis. Corrupt rightwing disinformation outlet Gateway Pundit is the source of a completely fabricated story claiming that Wisconsin state lawmakers voted to decertify Joe Biden decisive 2020 win that was then spread widely across wingnut media outlets and Trump loyalists.
