On today's 'BradCast': Blockbuster news out of Ohio, where the state's Republican House Speaker and four others were arrested in a $61 million bribery scheme that federal prosecutors called 'likely the largest bribery, money laundering scheme every perpetrated against the people of the state of Ohio.' The charges revealed a stunningly corrupt scheme -- a conspiracy between the lawmaker and monopoly utility company First Energy to enact a state law, passed last year, that forced all Ohio electricity ratepayers to bail out unprofitable nuclear and coal plants, and gutted the state's renewable energy industry, in return for cash that was used for Republican lawmakers' and lobbyists' self-enrichment and political power. The sordid story of self-dealing includes unaccountable dark money political groups controlled by the Ohio House Speaker, a massive ad campaign attempting to fool voters, and much, much more. It's also a reminder that this is what voters can expect when they put corrupt politicians in power who cater to the interests of major corporations rather than the public. Also today: COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations are surging and ICU bed capacity is increasingly strained or non-existent, as predicted, in states that pushed fast reopening. Missouri's Republican Gov. Mike Parson insists that kids must go back to school, ignoring health experts' warnings that schoolchildren will in turn infect their vulnerable parents, high-risk grandparents, teachers and school staff. The founder of 'Cowboys For Trump' – also an elected Republican official in New Mexico -- posts bonkers video filled with moronic false claims about mask-wearing.
