{"id":9869,"date":"2013-02-14T13:10:13","date_gmt":"2013-02-14T21:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=9869"},"modified":"2013-02-14T13:09:21","modified_gmt":"2013-02-14T21:09:21","slug":"washington-post-single-handedly-makes-climate-change-disappear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=9869","title":{"rendered":"Washington Post Single-Handedly Makes Climate Change Disappear!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;If a tree falls in the forest (because of global warming), but the media doesn&#8217;t report on it, does it make a sound?,&#8221; asks <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/02\/13\/1589541\/washington-post-overlooks-obamas-extensive-remarks-on-climate-and-energy\/\">Joe Romm at Climate Progress<\/a>, along with a pretty incredible observation.<\/p>\n<p>Romm highlighted the <i>Washington Post&#8217;s<\/i> front page banner the day after this week&#8217;s State of the Union speech, during which President Obama spent a rather large chunk of it on issues related to climate change and energy.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, when <i>WaPo<\/i> summarized the percentage of the speech devoted to each of the various topics mentioned during the address, here was the <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/Images\/WaPo_SOTU_NoClimateChange_large.jpg\">front page banner<\/a> used to detail it on Wednesday (<i>click graphic to enlarge<\/i>):<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/Images\/WaPo_SOTU_NoClimateChange_large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/WaPo_SOTU_NoClimateChange.jpg\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>As Romm notes:<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">In its quantification of the key elements of the speech, the paper&#8217;s editors apparently couldn&#8217;t see or hear or speak of the nearly 10% of the State of the Union address devoted to climate and energy.
