{"id":9824,"date":"2013-01-20T12:22:21","date_gmt":"2013-01-20T20:22:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=9824"},"modified":"2013-01-21T12:42:41","modified_gmt":"2013-01-21T20:42:41","slug":"darwinism-5-people-shot-at-3-different-gun-shows-on-gun-appreciation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=9824","title":{"rendered":"Darwinism: &#8216;5 People Shot At 3 Different Gun Shows On Gun Appreciation Day&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/GunAppreciationDay_011913_LockAndLoad.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">The headline <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/justice\/2013\/01\/19\/1473881\/two-people-accidentally-shot-at-a-gun-show-safety-checkpoint-on-gun-appreciation-day\/\">at Think Progress<\/a>, &#8220;5 People Shot At 3 Different Gun Shows On Gun Appreciation Day&#8221; was too perfect not to re-use in this case.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2013\/01\/19\/us\/north-carolina-gun-show-shooting\/index.html\">CNN describes<\/a> yesterday&#8217;s &#8220;Gun Appreciation Day&#8221; festivities this way today&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">At least five people &#8212; three in North Carolina, one in Indiana and one in Ohio &#8212; were injured after weapons went off at gun shows Saturday, officials said, at a time when there&#8217;s been renewed discussion about private gun sales at such shows.<\/p>\n<p>The most casualties came at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, North Carolina, where attendees bolted &#8212; with at least one woman wiping out in the frenetic scene &#8212; when gunfire rang out around 1 p.m., as seen on video captured by CNN affiliate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wral.com\/news\/local\/video\/12001531\/#\/vid12001531\">WRAL<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p>Here&#8217;s video from the NC gun show revealing the freedom fighters there scrambling after a 12-guage shotgun &#8220;accidentally discharged&#8221;, injuring three people&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><center><object width=\"416\" height=\"374\" classid=\"clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000\" id=\"ep_131\"><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\" \/><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/i.cdn.turner.com\/cnn\/.element\/apps\/cvp\/3.0\/swf\/cnn_416x234_embed.swf?context=embed&#038;contentId=us\/2013\/01\/20\/nc-gun-show-injuries.cnn\" \/><param name=\"bgcolor\" value=\"#000000\" \/><embed src=\"http:\/\/i.cdn.turner.com\/cnn\/.element\/apps\/cvp\/3.0\/swf\/cnn_416x234_embed.swf?context=embed&#038;contentId=us\/2013\/01\/20\/nc-gun-show-injuries.cnn\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" bgcolor=\"#000000\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" width=\"416\" wmode=\"transparent\" height=\"374\"><\/embed><\/object><\/center><\/p>\n<p>In Ohio, one man is hospitalized in stable condition today &#8220;after being shot by his business partner at a gun show&#8221; in the northern part of the state yesterday. It seems the owner of the Taurus semi-automatic 9mm handgun &#8220;brought the firearm into the show fully loaded,&#8221; despite a policy barring loaded weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Why, since NRA stooges tell us that &#8220;guns make us safer&#8221;, are they not allowed to carry loaded weapons at gun shows, of all places? Seems, I dunno, hypocritical.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In Indianapolis,&#8221; the CNN report continues describing the third incident yesterday, &#8220;a man walking out of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indy1500.com\/\">Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show<\/a> shot himself in the hand as he was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic firearm, Indiana State Police said in a statement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a less amusing incident Saturday, also on &#8220;Gun Appreciation Day&#8221;, tragedy struck in Georgia, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/news\/local\/police-henry-county-teen-accidentally-shot-and-kil\/nT3CG\/?utm_source=twitterfeed&#038;utm_medium=twitter\">according to the <i>Atlanta Journal Constitution<\/i><\/a>, when a 14-year old boy playing with his 15-year old brother and a friend spending the night, got access to his mother&#8217;s unloaded gun, loaded the weapon, pointed it at the older brother and &#8220;accidentally&#8221; killed him.<\/p>\n<p>As journalist Brooke Jarvis <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/brookejarvis\/statuses\/292772458929455105\">tweeted<\/a> yesterday, appropriately enough, a 1998 study on guns in homes found that &#8220;For every use in self defense, there were 4 accidental shootings, 7 assaults\/homicides, &#038; 11 suicide attempts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But, ya know, guns don&#8217;t kill people. Gunshot wounds from guns in people&#8217;s houses kill people.<\/p>\n<p><center><b>* * *<\/b><\/center><\/p>\n<p><i><b>UPDATE 1\/21\/12:<\/b><\/i> &#8220;Gun Appreciation Day&#8221; had an even darker ending in New Mexico, with yet another 15-year old involved, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/main\/2013\/01\/20\/abqnewsseeker\/breaking-five-dead-in-south-valley-shooting.html\"><em>Albuquerque Journal<\/em> reports<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">It was a &#8220;horrific&#8221;\u009d crime scene that confronted deputies Saturday night: Former Calvary church Pastor Greg Griego; his wife, Sarah; and their three youngest children dead &#8220;\u201d fatally shot multiple times with a &#8220;military-style&#8221;\u009d assault rifle and other weapons &#8220;\u201d at their South Valley home.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect in custody is the couple&#8217;s 15-year-old son, Nehemiah Griego, who neighbors said often wore &#8220;nothing but camouflage&#8221;\u009d and wanted to be in the army.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve never seen a scene quite like this,&#8221;\u009d Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston said at a news conference Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The teen is accused of using several weapons, including a &#8220;military style&#8221;\u009d assault rifle, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, to kill his parents and three youngest siblings.<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nNehemiah told neighbors he wanted to be a soldier.
