There were a lot of pretty impressive speeches at this week’s Democratic National Convention. Many of the very<\/em> smart headline speeches, such as Michelle Obama’s<\/a>, Bill Clinton’s<\/a>, and Joe Biden’s<\/a>, received plenty of coverage. Some of the shorter, but very noteworthy rallies, like Deval Patrick’s<\/a> and Ted Strickland’s<\/a> and Lilly Ledbetter’s<\/a>, also, deservedly, received a fair bit of notice.<\/p>\n

But for pure ass-kickin’ and theatrics, the winner, at least among those we’ve been able to see so far, must go to Jennifer Granholm, Michigan’s Democratic Governor from 2003 to 2011 and now prime-time Current TV host<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My initial take after watching it online<\/a> late last night: Just “Wow!”<\/p>\n

Her speech yesterday was short, but incredibly<\/i> potent and she lit the hall on fire with it in the bargain. If you didn’t catch it previously, it’s well worth a quick look for the history books. What a pity that she’s Canadian-born<\/a>…<\/p>\n
