{"id":8646,"date":"2011-08-05T06:45:47","date_gmt":"2011-08-05T13:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=8646"},"modified":"2011-08-05T07:50:57","modified_gmt":"2011-08-05T14:50:57","slug":"record-profits-for-job-creators-record-food-stamps-for-everyone-else","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=8646","title":{"rendered":"Record Profits for &#8216;Job Creators,&#8217; Record Food Stamps For Everyone Else&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the GOP&#8217;s greatest new (and most cynical) propaganda successes is the invention of the absurd, misleading, inaccurate phrase &#8220;job creators&#8221; as a euphemism for corporations, or rich people, or their wealthy patrons, or whoever it refers to in reality.<\/p>\n<p>But those corporations don&#8217;t &#8220;create jobs.&#8221; People do. When they have money to spend on things, they do.  Surely, even fake &#8220;conservatives&#8221; are familiar with &#8220;Supply and Demand.&#8221; It&#8217;s just not politically convenient or expedient for them to mention that phrase out loud right now. People who don&#8217;t have jobs don&#8217;t tend to buy much. If they have jobs, those people become job creators because they buy stuff.<\/p>\n<p>That the rich, corporate fat cats who now run the country (instead of &#8220;we, the people&#8221; as was formally the case &#8212; in theory) are not &#8220;job creators&#8221; is underscored plainly by these two recent news items:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>1)<\/b> Despite nearly unprecedented unemployment numbers, profits for U.S. corporations were at an <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=8207\">all-time record high in 2010<\/a>. Fancy that. And they are now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2011\/08\/01\/companies-near-record-profits-amid-high-unemployment\/\">on pace to break that record in 2011<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><b>2)<\/b> Despite profits for U.S. corporations at record highs, for the American <i>people<\/i>, the real &#8220;job creators,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/food-stamp-use-surges-most-years-alabama-foodstamp-recipients-double-may\">food stamp usage is now also at an all-time record high&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/food-stamp-use-surges-most-years-alabama-foodstamp-recipients-double-may\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/FoodStampParticipation_2007-2011.jpg\"><\/a><\/center><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>See any problems there?
