That, despite the absolutely, positively, indisputable fact that the US is a &#8220;center Right nation,&#8221; We know that, of course, because &#8212; despite years of accumulated and well-documented evidence <a href=\"http:\/\/cloudfront.mediamatters.org\/static\/pdf\/caf_mm-20090526-6.pdf\"><i>demonstrating the exact opposite<\/i> [PDF]<\/a> &#8212; those who listen uncritically to Rightwingers in the media continually <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=8303#comment-434198\">parrot the claim<\/a> (even as they remain <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=8303#comment-434218\">unable to offer a shred of evidence<\/a> to support it.)<\/p>\n<p><center><b>* * *<\/b><\/center><\/p>\n<p><i><b>UPDATE:<\/b><\/i> In addition to the study I linked above, demonstrating via years of polling data that, in fact, the <a href=\"http:\/\/cloudfront.mediamatters.org\/static\/pdf\/caf_mm-20090526-6.pdf\">US is a center <i>Left<\/i> nation [PDF]<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unc.edu\/~jstimson\/Pathways.pdf\">new study [PDF]<\/a> out today shows, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alternet.org\/teaparty\/149561?page=entire\">according to Alternet<\/a>, that &#8220;only a quarter of self-identified &#8216;conservatives&#8217; may actually be true conservatives on the issues&#8221; and &#8220;many aren&#8217;t conservative at all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As it turns out, very few of those who self-identify as &#8220;conservative&#8221; don&#8217;t even seem to understand what conservatism actually means, as &#8220;they also like government spending on a variety of programs and generally approve of government interventions in the marketplace, hardly making them true conservatives.&#8221; All of these data sync up with the general thrust of the original study I linked to.<\/p>\n<p>The new study seems to conclude that many, if not most, of those who self-identify as &#8220;conservative,&#8221; just seem to prefer the name over &#8220;liberal&#8221; or &#8220;moderate.&#8221;  But let&#8217;s not let any of that keep folks in the RW-dominated media from using our public airwaves to continue duping the nation by referring to it as &#8220;center Right.&#8221; If you say it enough, <i>over our public airwaves<\/i>, eventually it&#8217;s <em>got<\/em> to be true, right?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Blue Texan&#8221; at Firedoglake notes an interesting statistic following the release of a new WaPo\/ABC News poll: Favorability for the &#8220;Tea Party&#8221;: 35% Favorability for &#8220;Socialism&#8221;: 36% Go figure.
