{"id":8088,"date":"2010-09-24T11:54:38","date_gmt":"2010-09-24T18:54:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=8088"},"modified":"2010-09-26T03:23:37","modified_gmt":"2010-09-26T10:23:37","slug":"daily-show-video-potential-new-new-gop-boss-same-as-old-old-gop-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=8088","title":{"rendered":"Daily Show on &#8216;Pledge to America&#8217;: Potential New &#8216;New&#8217; GOP Boss Same as Old Old GOP Boss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/JohnBoehner_2010_1998_DailyShow.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">As comedian <a href=\"http:\/\/topsy.com\/twitter.com\/johnfugelsang\/status\/25051063596\">John Fugelsang wryly tweeted<\/a> recently: &#8220;My only real beef with the Republican Party is that they keep forcing me to vote for Democrats.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As horrendous as the Democratic leadership (particularly in the Senate) has been over the last several years &#8212; little better underscores that horrendousness than the embarrassing Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/09\/its-official-no-bush-tax-cut-fight-in-senate-til-after-november-election.php\">Harry Reid&#8217;s announcement yesterday<\/a> that he&#8217;d be putting off a vote for overwhelmingly popular middle-class tax-cuts until <i>after<\/i> the election &#8212; the Republicans still remain far worse&#8230;and far more dangerous to both the country and the world.<\/p>\n<p>Where the Ds are hapless, short-sighted, and cowardly, the Rs remain apologetically insidious, dangerous, shameless, and disingenuous.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Show&#8217;s<\/i> brilliant video montage last night, marking yesterday&#8217;s thud-like introduction of the GOP&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/pledge.gop.gov\/\">&#8220;Pledge to America&#8221;<\/a> (which, we&#8217;d wager, is likely to be all but abandoned and forgotten by Rs by the time November 2 rolls around), illustrates that point as ingenuously as we&#8217;ve ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>If Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) &#8212; likely to become Speaker of the House if Republicans take it over this year &#8212; had any shame, he&#8217;d be ashamed of himself. But he doesn&#8217;t.
