I just wanted to pull out and highlight here my closing comments in regard to the BP Oil Disaster, from the end of today’s Green News Report<\/a>, because no matter how often I keep repeating a similar refrain, nobody — particularly the Democrats in Washington — seems to be hearing it…<\/p>\n

You know, what I have been struck by over the last couple of days, is the lack of possibilities<\/i> for being able to clean up. It simply cannot be cleaned up. And while that’s true for an oil disaster like this, it’s equally true for nukes<\/i>! Yet, even Obama’s Nobel-winning Energy Secretary Steven Chu has been calling for additional nukes, as have others. And the fact is nukes also<\/i> cannot be cleaned up if things go wrong.<\/p>\n

Don’t sell me on anything that you don’t know how to fix if something goes wrong.<\/i><\/p>\n

Why we continue moving forward with such technology that cannot be corrected in the case of a disaster is beyond me.<\/p>\n

Why Democrats, including Barack Obama, have not used this<\/i> opportunity to demand passage of serious climate change and energy legislation — including a Manhattan Project for clean, renewable energy for all<\/i> — remains an absolute outrage.<\/div>\n

UPDATE 5\/27\/10<\/strong><\/em> A bit of, perhaps, encouraging news. At today’s White House presser, Obama noted that the BP underscores the need to pass clean energy legislation. Details in today’s Green News Report…<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
