{"id":7650,"date":"2010-01-15T11:35:31","date_gmt":"2010-01-15T19:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=7650"},"modified":"2026-04-24T00:35:46","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T07:35:46","slug":"easily-hacked-diebold-systems-to-decide-toss-up-us-senate-special-election-in-ma-on-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=7650","title":{"rendered":"Easily Hacked Diebold Systems to Decide &#8216;Toss-Up&#8217; U.S. Senate Special Election in MA on Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/ScottBrown_MarthaCoakley_USSenate_MA2.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">Since writing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gouverneurtimes.com\/st-lawrence-news\/54-worldnational-news\/10625-easily-hacked-voting-systems-to-be-used-in-ma-special-election-for-the-us-senate.html\">today&#8217;s piece<\/a> for Upstate New York&#8217;s right-leaning <i>Gouverneur Times<\/i>, a new poll has come out this morning showing the Republican Scott Brown now leading the Democrat Martha Coakley <a href=\"http:\/\/www.suffolk.edu\/39994.html\">by 4 points<\/a> in the race for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by a Democrat named Kennedy for nearly 60 years.<\/p>\n<p>As of last night, when I filed the story with them, the latest survey from a Democratic-leaning pollster showed Coakley <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluemassgroup.com\/diary\/18361\/exclusive-bmgresearch-2000-poll-coakley-leads-4941\">up by 8<\/a>, though a day or two earlier, Republican Rasmussen had Brown down only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/news\/politics\/view\/20100113poll_scott_brown_martha_coakley_only_2_points_apart\/\">by 2 points<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Suffice to say it&#8217;s now officially <a href=\"http:\/\/rothenbergpoliticalreport.blogspot.com\/2010\/01\/ma-senate-moved-to-toss-up.html\">&#8220;a toss-up,&#8221;<\/a> at least according to the Rothenberg Political Report, and to all the Dems and Reps now sweating out what was previously thought to have been an easy Democratic win.<\/p>\n<p>With the 60th &#8220;filibuster-proof&#8221; Senate seat now hanging precariously in the balance, I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ll be delighted to hear that the winner will now be whoever Diebold declares it to be. The near-entirety of the state will vote next Tuesday on paper ballots to be counted by Diebold op-scan systems. The same ones used dubiously in the New Hampshire Primary in 2008, and the same ones <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/t75xvZ3osFg\">notoriously hacked<\/a> &#8212; resulting in a flipped mock election &#8212; in HBO&#8217;s Emmy-nominated <i>Hacking Democracy<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>And to make matters even worse, the notorious LHS Associates &#8212; the private company with the <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=5537\">criminal background<\/a> that has admitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=5320\">illegally tampering with memory cards<\/a> during elections, and which has a Director of Sales and Marketing who <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4940\">embarrassed himself with obscene comments<\/a> here at <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\">The BRAD BLOG<\/a> some years ago, resulting in his being <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=5320\">barred from CT by their Sec. of State<\/a> &#8212; sells and services almost all of MA&#8217;s voting machines along with those in the rest of New England.<\/p>\n<p>Read my detailed coverage of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gouverneurtimes.com\/st-lawrence-news\/54-worldnational-news\/10625-easily-hacked-voting-systems-to-be-used-in-ma-special-election-for-the-us-senate.html\">entire sad affair over at <i>Gouverneur Times<\/i><\/a> today.
