{"id":7563,"date":"2009-12-08T13:30:14","date_gmt":"2009-12-08T21:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=7563"},"modified":"2009-12-09T21:33:54","modified_gmt":"2009-12-10T05:33:54","slug":"fox-news-falsifies-global-warming-poll-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=7563","title":{"rendered":"Fox &#8216;Falsifies&#8217; Global Warming Poll Data"},"content":{"rendered":"[<em>Now updated at end of article.<\/em>]\n<p>Notice anything wrong with these Fox &#8220;News&#8221; reported poll numbers?<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/FoxNews_RasmussenPollOnClimateGate_120709.jpg\"><\/center><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s right, according to Fox, <i><b>120 percent<\/b><\/i> of Americans have an opinion on global warming issues in the wake of stolen emails from climate scientists, and <i><b>94 percent<\/b><\/i> of them believe it&#8217;s at least &#8220;somewhat likely&#8221; that those scientists falsified research while <i><b>26 percent<\/b><\/i> feel otherwise. That&#8217;s tea bag math for ya.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Malloy at Media Matters offers <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/200912080002\">his best guess<\/a> on how Fox &#8220;News&#8221; came up with their falsified numbers, though it&#8217;s also worth noting that out of <i>120 percent or more<\/i>  of Fox &#8220;News&#8221; viewers, not a single one of them has so far been able to identify, at least to us, a single stolen email that demonstrates the science of global warming is in any way inaccurate&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Fox, of course, has a very rich history of &#8220;mistakes&#8221; on on-screen graphics that, inevitably end up supporting Rightwingers and\/or hurting Democrats in some fashion or another. (Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www3.allaroundphilly.com\/blogs\/reporter\/wesleym\/labels\/mark%20foley%20as%20a%20democrat.html\">just a few<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/killfile.newsvine.com\/_news\/2009\/06\/25\/2968314-libel-by-label-a-brief-history-of-fox-news-accidental-democrats\">some others<\/a>, though if anybody has a link to a more comprehensive page out there, we&#8217;ll update this link.) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.BradBlog.com\">The BRAD BLOG<\/a> was the first to report on one of their most infamous, when they <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=3570\">labeled Republican Rep. Mark Foley as a &#8220;D&#8221;<\/a> after it had been revealed that he sent sexually explicit emails to Congressional pages in the days leading up to the 2006 Election.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, Fox has been <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=7516\">caught falsifying video footage<\/a>  on the <i>Hannity<\/i> show to exaggerate the size of a Tea Bag demonstration in D.C. and using 2008 campaign footage to <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=7530\">deceptively suggest huge crowds<\/a> at book signing events for the celebrity community organizer Sarah Palin in the wake of her aborted first term as Alaska&#8217;s Governor.<\/p>\n<p>Fox claims to have recently instituted a <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/200911230038\">&#8220;zero tolerance&#8221; policy<\/a> in response to such &#8220;mistakes&#8221; following the latest (of many similar) embarrassments, though we&#8217;d not advising holding your breath waiting for someone to actually be held accountable for this one, or any of them frankly.<\/p>\n<p><i>Addendum&#8230;<\/i> As we prepared to run this item, this just in, yet another new Fox &#8220;flub that conveniently hurts Democrats&#8221; as they &#8220;reduce Obama&#8217;s bank bailout savings by 99 percent&#8221;. <a href=\"http:\/\/rawstory.com\/2009\/12\/day-convenient-fox-flub\/\">See RAW STORY for details&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>UPDATE 12\/9\/09:<\/strong><\/em> Well, so much for Fox&#8217;s &#8220;zero tolerance&#8221; policy. Apparently, zero also has a different value in tea bag math. So does &#8220;tolerance&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Politico <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/rd?to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.politico.com%2Fblogs%2Fmichaelcalderone%2F1209%2FFox_producer_No_error_in_graphic.html%3Fshowall\">followed up<\/a>, and Fox, like all liars and losers when caught, made excuses, rather than admit their error:<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">Lauren Petterson, executive producer of Fox &#038; Friends, told POLITICO that she sees no error in the graphic. And for that reason, there will be no reprimand of staff under the &#8220;zero tolerance&#8221; policy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were just talking about three interesting pieces of information from Rasmussen,&#8221; Petterson said. &#8220;We didn&#8217;t put on the screen that it added up to 100 percent.&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>That is, of course, nonsense, as <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/200912080051\">Eric Boehlert offers <i>context<\/i><\/a> for the graphic in question, showing just how full of crap Petterson&#8217;s claim is.
