{"id":7491,"date":"2009-10-30T13:13:42","date_gmt":"2009-10-30T20:13:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=7491"},"modified":"2009-10-30T13:12:29","modified_gmt":"2009-10-30T20:12:29","slug":"nytimes-slams-dieboldess-merger-succeeds-in-not-using-word-paperless-even-once","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=7491","title":{"rendered":"NYTimes Slams Diebold\/ES&#038;S Merger, Succeeds In Not Using Word &#8216;Paperless&#8217; Even Once!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congrats to <i>New York Times<\/i> for their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/10\/29\/opinion\/29thu3.html?_r=1\">Wednesday editorial<\/a> slamming the ES&#038;S takeover of Diebold&#8217;s election division (which, if allowed by federal regulators to go through, would give a single private company sole control of some 70% of the votes in this country&#8217;s once-public elections).<\/p>\n<p>While the <i>Times<\/i> has editorialized on the dangers of this horrific merger in the past, as I recall, and appropriately so, the reason they are due congrats this time around is because they&#8217;ve managed to write an entire editorial focused on the e-voting menace without once tossing in the deceptive phrase &#8220;paperless electronic voting machines&#8221; (as if &#8220;paperless&#8221; e-voting systems are any less of a threat to our democracy than the same wholly-unverifiable voting machines which offer an entirely useless so-called &#8220;paper trail&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>I believe that&#8217;s a first! So, waytago <i>NYTimes<\/i>!
