But looked at another way, <strong>the numbers are grim. There are more collapsed fish populations now than any other time in recorded history.<\/strong> Even within those less-pressured regions, many individual species are threatened. Two-thirds of all stocks need to be rebuilt, and half of those are still being overfished.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some scientists warn that the rebuilding needs to happen now. Pushed too far, some species simply won&#8217;t be able to recover, despite our best efforts.<\/strong> They hit a population-level tipping point. For a decade their user agreements have explicitly forbidden the use of the seeds for any independent research.
