We&#8217;d have to agree.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/rawstory.com\/news\/2008\/Sharpton_Murdoch_newspaper_compares_Obama_to_0218.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/Delonas_021809_DeadObamaMonkey.jpg\"><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>UPDATE 2\/19\/09:<\/strong><\/em> Protests grow outside of Murdoch&#8217;s <em>NY Post<\/em> building in NYC. <a href=\"http:\/\/rawstory.com\/news\/2008\/Sharpton_Post_editor_insulting_public_with_0219.html\">Details&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>LATE UPDATE 2\/19\/09:<\/strong><\/em> <em>NYPost<\/em> issues unusual apology (they usually do no such thing), and it&#8217;s also an unusual <em>non<\/em>-apology apology. And a fairly obnoxious one at that. We post it here in full so you don&#8217;t need to give your clickage to that particular rag:<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\"><center><strong>THAT CARTOON<\/strong><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Posted: 8:00 pm<br \/>\nFebruary 19, 2009<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s Page Six cartoon &#8211; caricaturing Monday&#8217;s police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut &#8211; has created considerable controversy.<\/p>\n<p>It shows two police officers standing over the chimp&#8217;s body: &#8220;They&#8217;ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill,&#8221; one officer says.<\/p>\n<p>It was meant to mock an ineptly written federal stimulus bill.<\/p>\n<p>Period.<\/p>\n<p>But it has been taken as something else &#8211; as a depiction of President Obama, as a thinly veiled expression of racism.<\/p>\n<p>This most certainly was not its intent; to those who were offended by the image, we apologize.<\/p>\n<p>However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past &#8211; and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback.<\/p>\n<p>To them, no apology is due.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon &#8211; even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>UPDATE 2\/24\/09:<\/strong><\/em> And now <i>Rupert Murdoch<\/i> himself, issues his own <i>personal<\/i> apology. <a href=\"http:\/\/rawstory.com\/news\/2008\/Murdoch_apologizes_for_New_York_Post_0224.html\">RAW has it&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Al Sharpton has described Sean Delonas&#8217; outrageous editorial cartoon, published in Rupert Murdoch&#8217;s New York Post, as &#8220;stunning&#8221;.
