{"id":6908,"date":"2009-02-12T11:04:28","date_gmt":"2009-02-12T19:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=6908"},"modified":"2009-02-12T11:17:15","modified_gmt":"2009-02-12T19:17:15","slug":"unfortunate-turn-of-phrase-of-the-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=6908","title":{"rendered":"Unfortunate Turn of Phrase of the Moment&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a short item on Michael Steele &#8212; the recently-elected, first African-American chair of the RNC &#8212; and his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/bensmith\/0209\/Resignations_at_the_RNC.html\">requested resignation<\/a> of all 100 members of the committee, in order to presumably rebuild it from scratch, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.aol.com\/political-machine\/2009\/02\/06\/breaking-steele-asks-rnc-staff-to-resign\/\">rightwing blogger Matt Lewis&#8217; coverage at AOL<\/a>, uses an unfortunate turn of phrase [<i>emphasis added<\/i>]&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/MichaelSteele_slap.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">If there was ever a doubt [Steele&#8217;s] election represented a revolutionary shift in direction, this move would certainly put an end to that debate.<\/p>\n<p>The reformers won, and &#8212; unlike Obama who seems to have used &#8220;change&#8221; as merely an slogan &#8212; Steele (so far) appears to be &#8220;governing&#8221; (inasmuch as an RNC chairman can &#8220;govern&#8221;) &#8212; as a true change-agent.<\/p>\n<p><i>By the same token<\/i>, one hopes Steele will not throw the baby out with the bath water. <\/div>\n<p>Whoops.
