Two Republican U.S. senators who disgraced themselves with extramarital affairs <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/2008\/06\/vitter_craig_re.html\">have signed on as sponsors<\/a> of the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would prohibit same sex marriage anywhere in the United States. <\/p>\n<p>The senators are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pensitoreview.com\/sen-david-vitter\/\">David Vitter<\/a> of Louisiana, who admitted he consorted with prostitutes over a long period of time,  and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pensitoreview.com\/sen-larry-craig\/\"> Larry Craig<\/a> of Idaho, who pleaded guilty to a charge of soliciting sex in a men&#8217;s room. <\/p>\n<p>The amendment <a href=\"http:\/\/frwebgate.access.gpo.gov\/cgi-bin\/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&#038;docid=f:sj43is.txt.pdf\">states<\/a>, &#8220;Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Both Vitter and Craig were 2007 nominees to Pensito Review&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pensitoreview.com\/2007\/12\/29\/2007-gop-adulterers-hall-of-fame-nominees\/\">GOP Adulterers Hall of Fame<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guest blogged by Jon Ponder, Pensito Review.
