Have you voted in your state’s primary or will you be voting when the time comes for your state? Are you sure your name is on the voter registration list?

Every voter, even if you voted in your state’s primary without any problems, should contact your county election officials and ensure you are registered to vote according to their records and that your name and address are correct in their data base. The best time to do this is later in the year but before it is too late to register if there are any problems.

Voter registrations and the voter data bases will be the problem of this election year. Vendors have made a lot of money setting-up state voter registration data bases and there have already been reports of many problems in many states. We encourage every voter to play it safe and make a phone call or visit your county election office. Make sure that when the time comes your vote will be counted and you will not have to be on a provisional ballot that may not get counted.

As usual, today’s notable voting news headlines all follow below…

NAtional: Is Your Name on the Voting List?
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h8r1nWdFTshQbRT-_EJ8BG3yTEVgD8V5FFG03

NAtional: United Technologies Makes Bid for Diebold
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/02/business/02cnd-deal.html?hp

CO: Editorial – Faith in the elections
Officials’ efforts can inspire it
http://dailycamera.com/news/2008/mar/02/faith-in-the-elections/

FL: Martin County – How much will Martin get for old voting machines?
County still owes $1.1 million for the touch-screen devices, which cost about $3,300 each new
http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/mar/01/30gt-how-much-will-martin-get-for-old-voting/

IL: Du Page County – Ballot group may have partisan ties
Election Commission critic has an agenda, GOP claims
http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/821358,6_1_NA02_BALLOT_S1.article

OH: Voter protection group sets up hot line
http://www.daytondailynews.com/n/content/oh/story/news/local/2008/03/01/ddn030208elexprotection.html

OH: All eyes will be on Ohio to get Election Day right
State works to minimize problems
http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080301/NEWS09/803010401/0/NEWS06

OH: Paper ballots to delay final primary results
http://www.vindy.com/news/2008/mar/02/paper-ballots-to-delay-final-primary-resultsnw/

OH: Belmont County – Late Vote Results Expected
http://www.theintelligencer.net/page/content.detail/id/506543.html?nav=515

SC: Horry County – Horry panel to research voting machine receipts
http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/news/local/story/369138.html

TX: Brazoria County – More voting machines in place to meet demand
http://thefacts.com/story.lasso?ewcd=68ce5e2eaead90cd

TX: Brazoria County – Officials preparing for high voter turnout
http://thefacts.com/story.lasso?ewcd=0dcf43a30d56911e

TX: Collin County – Dem Voting and Caucus Problems in Texas on March 4th
http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/diarypage.php?did=6356

TX: Nueces County ““ Voting Machine Mix Up
http://www.kiiitv.com/news/local/16150997.html

WV: Cole says Cabell’s voting system is ready for elections
http://www.herald-dispatch.com/homepage/x112305621

**”Daily Voting News” is meant as a comprehensive listing of reports each day concerning issues related to election and voting news around the country regardless of quality or political slant.
