{"id":5662,"date":"2008-02-06T14:26:37","date_gmt":"2008-02-06T22:26:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=5662"},"modified":"2008-02-07T02:48:58","modified_gmt":"2008-02-07T10:48:58","slug":"other-than-that-mrs-lincon-how-was-the-play-la-times-reports-few-election-glitches-except-for-independents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=5662","title":{"rendered":"Other Than That, Mrs. Lincoln, How Was the Play? &#8211; LA Times Reports &#8216;Few Election Glitches, Except for Independents&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>, which has been among the worst major newspapers in the country &#8212; for years &#8212; in reporting (or, actually <em>not<\/em> reporting) on issues of Election Integrity <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/printedition\/california\/la-me-vote6feb06,1,921304.story\">tells us today<\/a>, in regards to yesterday&#8217;s voting in California, that there were &#8220;Few election glitches, except for independents.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Um, does the braintrust at the <i>LA Times<\/i> realize that out of 15.3 million registered voters in the state, some 20% of them, more than <em>3 million<\/em>, are &#8220;independents&#8221;? (3,043,164 to be exact, with more than 700,000 in LA alone, if the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sos.ca.gov\/elections\/ror_012208.htm\">latest numbers<\/a> from the CA SoS are to be trusted). Plus more than 300,000 voters registered as &#8220;American Independent&#8221; who may or may not have wished to be included as members of that party? Or shall we just deliver the &#8220;Understatement of the Year Award&#8221; right now to the folks at the <em>LA Times<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s more than just a &#8220;few glitches,&#8221; no?<\/p>\n<p>And if the following disturbing video from a Los Angeles Ron Paul supporter who switched from Democratic to Republican specifically to vote for Paul is any indication, it&#8217;s not just &#8220;independents&#8221; who experienced &#8220;few election glitches&#8221; yesterday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><center><object width=\"340\" height=\"28034\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/zWKxwVZmomc&#038;rel=1\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/zWKxwVZmomc&#038;rel=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" width=\"340\" height=\"280\"><\/embed><\/object><\/center><\/p>\n<p>For the record, the video taper is correct, and the poll worker is wrong.
