{"id":5623,"date":"2008-01-29T16:29:01","date_gmt":"2008-01-30T00:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=5623"},"modified":"2009-05-29T11:19:06","modified_gmt":"2009-05-29T18:19:06","slug":"rush-limbaugh-encounters-touch-screen-voting-failure-in-palm-beach-fl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=5623","title":{"rendered":"RUSH LIMBAUGH ENCOUNTERS TOUCH-SCREEN VOTING FAILURE IN PALM BEACH, FL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/RushLimbaughArrest.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\">Earlier today <a href=\"http:\/\/www.postonpolitics.com\/2008\/01\/rush-limbaugh-has-trouble-voting\/\">from a <em>Palm Beach Post<\/em> blog item&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><Div class=\"media\">Count Rush Limbaugh among the voters confused by Palm Beach County&#8217;s touch-screen machines.<\/p>\n<p>On his syndicated talk show this afternoon, Limbaugh said he was trying to vote in today&#8217;s primary when the screen seemed to freeze or &#8220;stick&#8221;\u009d on the list of presidential candidates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hit &#8216;Next&#8217; and it didn&#8217;t go there,&#8221;\u009d said Limbaugh, who lives in Palm Beach and often recounts the county&#8217;s electoral foibles on his show.<\/p>\n<p>Then he hit the &#8220;Back&#8221;\u009d button and &#8220;got my candidate page again with the vote already recorded there. So I said &#8216;hmmmmm, I wonder if this is going to count twice.&#8221;\u009d<\/p>\n<p>So he unclicked his favored candidate, clicked that candidate again and hit &#8220;Next&#8221;\u009d a second time &#8211; and it worked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know if I voted twice,&#8221;\u009d he said. &#8220;Probably not.&#8221;\u009d<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For the record, although Florida&#8217;s Republican governor and legislature have voted to finally trash the touch-screens and move to all paper ballot elections, today&#8217;s Primary still uses the old touch-screens in many counties.  Elsewhere, problems are occurring &#8212; yet again &#8212; with the paper-based Diebold op-scan systems in the Sunshine State. The same machines used in New Hampshire, and the same ones <a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/watch?v=J36Jfkxd1vA\">seen being hacked in HBO&#8217;s <em>Hacking Democracy<\/em><\/a>, are reportedly failing in several locations there.
