In 2002 the Help America Vote Act was signed into law. One of the issues that law was to help with was to clear up the voter registration issues such as what happened in 2000. That law required centralization of voter registrations at the state level and not, as previously, at the county. Now, in Florida again, voters have had to go to court in order to get put back on the voter rolls. Little things like missing hyphens, common in Hispanic surnames or Haitian first names, are enough to have a person’s registration denied. …

NAtional: Voter ID in HAVA and The Case for Preemption
http://www.moresoftmoneyhardlaw.com/news.html?AID=1154

NAtional: Republicans Urge Supreme Court to Allow Preemptive Strikes in Elections
http://www.alternet.org/story/70578/

NAtional: Voter fraud fraud
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/editorials/articles/2007/12/13/voter_fraud_fraud/

NAtional: Silent Media, Silent Scream
12 December 2007: Voice of the Voters: Silent Media, Silent Scream
http://www.opednews.com/articles/genera_marta_st_071212_silent_media_2c_silent.htm

CA: Los Angeles County – Figure in vote controversy gets L.A. job
http://www.dailybreeze.com/ci_7697147

CA: Solano County – `Wild Finish’ in Contested Mayor’s Race
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iRyoynG0g0EqD9qUXtsYsp3yChdgD8TG3ACO2

FL: Court hears suit over voter roll glitches
Typos, hyphenated names and other bureaucratic problems have prompted Florida to reject thousands of voter registrations.
