{"id":5346,"date":"2007-11-23T08:47:29","date_gmt":"2007-11-23T16:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=5346"},"modified":"2008-09-18T12:49:12","modified_gmt":"2008-09-18T19:49:12","slug":"bob-woodward-washington-post-clueless-about-vote-caging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=5346","title":{"rendered":"Bob Woodward, Washington Post Clueless About &#8216;Vote Caging&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/BobWoodward_VoteCaging.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">Apparently, one of the requirements for working as a reporter at the <i>Washington Post<\/i> is that you must remain as out of touch as possible with anything that matters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?action=edit&#038;post=5346\">According to ThinkProgress today<\/a>, Watergate&#8217;s investigative genius, Bob Woodward, smartly meets the requirements&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">Earlier this week, Washington Post investigative reporters Bob Woodward and Jeff Leen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/discussion\/2007\/11\/15\/DI2007111501761.html\">hosted an online chat<\/a> at washingtonpost.com. One of the participants asked Woodward and Leen how pervasive the voter suppression tactic known as &#8220;caging&#8221; is. The investigative reporters had no idea what it was:<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">Washington, D.C.: Don&#8217;t you have a duty to report criminal activity to the appropriate authorities? <\/p>\n<p><strong>How pervasive is &#8220;caging&#8221;? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bob Woodward and Jeff Leen: We publish what we can find and document. Many times over the years government authorities have pursued the information we have dug up and launched their own investigations. But we&#8217;re trying to serve the readers, and we do not act as police or prosecutors. <strong>And please send us an e-mail explaing [<em>sic<\/em>] what &#8220;caging&#8221; is.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Woodward and Leen aren&#8217;t the only Washington Post reporters who are clueless about caging.
