Ireland paid 51.3m Euros to purchase their machines then they found out they were insecure and had many problems. The machines have been in storage since they were purchased. They have never been used. Instead of taking NEDAP to court for restitution, or scrapping the machines; the Irish have now decided to take out 25-year rental leases for storage facilities. The government has taken a lease for the 288 machines in storage in County Monaghan for over 27,000 Euros a year.

If you want a copy of the book featured in the first link below you can get one signed by the author at VotersUnite.Org as a premium on a donation….

NAtional: Gripping New Novel Exposes America’s Vulnerability to Election Sabotage
http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2007/10/emw561631.htm

NAtional: Tech The Vote
http://news.medill.northwestern.edu/chicago/news.aspx?id=65647

CA: Opinion – Elections overkill
http://www.thereporter.com/opinion/ci_7212967

CA: Riverside County – Knee Deep in the Hoopla
http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2007/10/17/news/columnists/john_hunneman/20_38_0710_16_07.txt

MS: The Politics of Voter ID
http://www.jacksonfreepress.com/comments.php?id=15179_0_4_0_C

NY: Editorial – Don’t overspend on quick voting fixes
http://www.newsday.com/news/opinion/ny-vpvote185418655oct18,0,3396381.story

OH: Cuyahoga County – Tests of electronic voting key to Cuyahoga’s plans for 2008
http://www.wdtn.com/Global/story.asp?S=7228875

OH: Cuyahoga County – Reliability of touch-screen voting remains big concern
The director of elections in Cuyahoga County gets ready for the 2008 elections
http://media.www.bgnews.com/media/storage/paper883/news/2007/10/18/State/Reliability.Of.TouchScreen.Voting.Remains.Big.Concern-3039719.shtml

PA: Editorial – Hold vendor liable for voting machine snafu
http://www.weeklyalmanac.com/default.asp?sourceid=&smenu=76&twindow=Default&mad=No&sdetail=8040&wpage=1&skeyword=&sidate=&ccat=&ccatm=&restate=&restatus=&reoption=&retype=&repmin=&repmax=&rebed=&rebath=&subname=&pform=&sc=1020&hn=weeklyalmanac&he=.com

Ireland: Costly storage of e-voting machines slammed as ‘lunacy’
http://www.independent.ie/national-news/costly-storage-of-evoting-machines-slammed-as-lunacy-1198858.html

**”Daily Voting News” is meant as a comprehensive listing of reports each day concerning issues related to election and voting news around the country regardless of quality or political slant.
