The Rules Committee is supposed to decide whether amendments can be added to the bill; what amendments will be accepted; or whether the process will be open to all amendments. While some are telling their supporters that the bill is going to the floor tomorrow, we are hearing from a committee staffer that no decision has been made and the bill may still have to go before the committee again.

Meanwhile a New Jersey Superior Court Judge has told the state that they had better figure out how to replace all 10,000 of the state’s DRE machines with optical scan and the state has 8 days to figure it out. It seems that the vvpat printers to be used on DREs made by Sequoia and Avante have been proven to be garbage and the state ignored a ruling from the court made weeks ago that the state have a back-up plan by today. The state ignored the court.

Those stories, and the other notable voting news from today, all linked below as usual…

NAtional: Exclusive: Amendment To Ban/Restrict Touch-Screen DREs May Be Brought To Holt Bill! LINK

NAtional: Crunch Time for E-voting Reform LINK

NAtional: E-voting reform bill scheduled for House vote this week LINK

NAtional: House to consider e-voting reform bill
A bill that would require all e-voting machines to have paper trails and forbid them from having wireless or Internet connections is set for a vote LINK

NAtional: Voting Systems Recommendations LINK

CA: Solano County – Sacramento County offers to loan Solano voting machines in November LINK

MD: Baltimore – Glitch-free primaries predicted LINK

MS: Kemper County – Kemper Vote Could Be Challenged LINK

NC: Instant runoff raises doubts
Polling system will be tested Nov. 6 in Hendersonville LINK

NC: North Carolina Now Officially Banana Republic? LINK

NJ: State given 8 days to replace 10,000 voting machines LINK

NJ: Another Blow To Voting Machine Vendors LINK

NJ: Judge demands alternative voting machine plan LINK

PA: Why HR 811 Is Good For Pennsylvania LINK

Netherlands: Dutch computer voting machine company caught editing Wikipedia entry LINK

**”Daily Voting News” is meant as a comprehensive listing of reports each day concerning issues related to election and voting news around the country regardless of quality or political slant.
