Has a “decision” been made with respect to HR-811? Only time will tell. Information is the grist that is fed into the mill to become a “decision.” New York now has more information on the vendors so they can make a “decision” on their voting system selection. Another Pennsylvania county has to decide how they are going to pay for a maintenance contract for the ES&S voting machines. Maybe it’s time the counties decide it’s time to kick ES&S out of the state. Oklahoma did it years ago and, you know, there is very little news about voting machine failures in Oklahoma reported in DVN….

NAtional: Holt Paper-Trail Election Bill Dead? LINK

NAtional: Voting System Companies Fail to Meet New York State’s Requirements for “Responsible Contractors” LINK

NAtional: The Electric Kool-Aid Voting Test LINK

NAtional: Crippling Cost of HR 811 Leaves States Exposed and Defenseless LINK

NAtional: Bush Government To Poor Voters: We Don’t Want You To Vote LINK

NAtional: UMBC grad student’s team wins voting-machine design contest LINK

NAtional: U.S. Senate Bill S. 1487: Escalating the Federal Control and Privatization of Elections LINK

AL: Governor’s race remembered for ‘funny numbers’ LINK

AL: Covington County – County voting system gets software, hardware upgrade LINK

AR: Clay County – Court gives okay for election coordinator LINK

FL: FL-13 – Jennings to challenge Buchanan again LINK

FL: FL-13 – Jennings vies another run at Buchanan LINK

FL: FL-13 – Florida Democrat Seeks Rematch of Contested 2006 Race LINK

HI: Editorial – State cutting it close with new voting system LINK

MI: Michigan Supreme Court Upholds Photo ID Law LINK

MS: In Mississippi, Ruling Is Seen as Racial Split LINK

MS: Jackson County Tests Hundreds Of Voting Machines For Accuracy LINK

PA: Mercer Co. asks for help with voting machines LINK

**”Daily Voting News” is meant as a comprehensive listing of reports each day concerning issues related to election and voting news around the country regardless of quality or political slant.
