{"id":4572,"date":"2007-05-17T19:30:14","date_gmt":"2007-05-18T02:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=4572"},"modified":"2007-05-18T14:32:16","modified_gmt":"2007-05-18T21:32:16","slug":"diebold-voting-machine-kills-another-election-this-time-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4572","title":{"rendered":"Votes Go Missing as Diebold Voting Machine Kills Another Election, This Time in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/Diebold_WeWontTest.gif\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcmessenger.com\/news\/news\/EEZAFkkVpADWXqXtfA.php\">From the <i>Wise County Messenger<\/i><\/a> in Texas&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">Thirty-eight votes in the Aurora city election are missing and the problem is being turned over to the office of the secretary of state, City Administrator Toni Kelly-Richardson said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The city may have to have another election, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The city used three Diebold Election Systems voting machines in its election &#8220;\u201c two were designated for early voting and the other for election day.<\/p>\n<p>When one of the early voting machines stopped allowing people to cast ballots, Kelly-Richardson said the city switched to paper ballots.<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nThe memory card, which stores the votes from the machine, was &#8220;pulled out and sealed up&#8221;\u009d until the results should be counted, she said.<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nWhen the memory card was opened from storage and placed in a machine for reading, it showed to have no votes on it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We knew that the card had 38 ballots on it,&#8221;\u009d she said.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The story gets even more amazing as a fire breaks out in city hall, where the machines are stored, engulfing one of them in flames.
