{"id":4183,"date":"2007-02-23T17:08:58","date_gmt":"2007-02-24T01:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=4183"},"modified":"2007-02-23T18:55:58","modified_gmt":"2007-02-24T02:55:58","slug":"jennings-says-floridas-audit-of-election-flawed-incomplete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4183","title":{"rendered":"FL-13: Jennings Says Florida&#8217;s Audit of Election &#8216;Flawed, Incomplete&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/ChristineJennings_Name.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\">The Christine Jennings (D) campaign has just sent us a statement concerning today&#8217;s release of the state-commissioned audit of the flawed election during her race against Vern Buchanan (R) last November in Florida&#8217;s 13th Congressional District.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4181\"><em>See our earlier full coverage of the state reports here&#8230;<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The audit of Sarasota County&#8217;s voting system was flawed, incomplete, and provides even more compelling reasons for the Christine Jennings campaign to seek a thorough investigation by outside experts,&#8221; the statement begins.<\/p>\n<p><em>The complete Jennings statement follows below&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><Div class=\"document\"><center><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/FL13_ChristineJenningsForCongress.gif\"><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Friday, February 23, 2007<br \/>\nMEDIA ALERT<br \/>\nCONTACT:    David Kochman, 954-703-0245<\/p>\n<p><center><b>State Audit of Sarasota Voting System Flawed, Incomplete<\/b><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Tallahassee, FL &#8220;\u201c The audit of Sarasota County&#8217;s voting system was flawed, incomplete, and provides even more compelling reasons for the Christine Jennings campaign to seek a thorough investigation by outside experts.<\/p>\n<p>The audit contained several critical flaws:<\/p>\n<p><b>&#8211; The investigation was incomplete:<\/b>  Experts were not allowed access to the machines, causing Princeton professor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freedom-to-tinker.com\/?p=1116\">Ed Felton to call the audit<\/a> &#8220;far from the complete, independent study I had initially thought they wanted,&#8221;\u009d and forcing the team to rely on the flawed parallel testing conducted by the Secretary of State&#8217;s office. On page 19 of the final report from FSU&#8217;s SAIT lab, the researchers acknowledge &#8220;<i>We did not conduct a comprehensive election audit\u2026The team&#8217;s task was not to examine the iVotronic systems or the PEBs used in the election, or to perform forensic analysis on those systems to determine whether a problem in them caused the undervote.&#8221;\u009d<\/i><\/p>\n<p> <b>&#8211; The audit ignored the analysis of MIT&#8217;s Dr. Charles Stewart<\/b>, who found a strong statistical correlation between the date of machine set-up, number of machines prepared that day, and increased undervote rates.<\/p>\n<p><b>&#8211; The report added even more credibility to the belief that the undervote changed the outcome of the race,<\/b> a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christinejenningsforcongress.com\/index.asp?Type=B_PR&#038;SEC={A57475F6-E2C3-44B5-A197-7D79FFB6185A}&#038;DE={D875BA63-6FCA-4D25-89DF-51F5A7CD685F}\">fact supported<\/a> even by ES&#038;S&#8217; expert Dr. Michael Herron.
