A Media Outlet CORRECTLY Covers Rice Admission That White House (Supposedly) Made No Casuality Estimates for Iraq Escalation Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><object width=\"240\" height=\"198\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Izj5Okvli50\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Izj5Okvli50\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" width=\"240\" height=\"198\" vspace=\"3\" hspace=\"6\" align=\"right\" border=\"6\"><\/embed><\/object><em>Finally!<\/em> A media outlet which appropriately covered the <em>news<\/em> from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing last week in which Rice claimed the White House made no estimates for the potential change in casualty rates that may come from their plan to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend <em>The McClaughlin Group<\/em> focused on &#8212; and showed the video of &#8212; the actual <i>newsworthy<\/i> exchange between Sen. Barbara Boxer and Rice, if you can imagine such a thing.<\/p>\n<p>If you can&#8217;t, that video is here for you on the right. (<i>Hat-tip Alan Breslauer<\/i>)<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the <i>Washington Times&#8217;<\/i> Tony Blankley tried mightily to turn the topic to the phony, non-existent &#8220;attack&#8221; that the White House, and their sycophants in the media from the <a href=\"http:\/\/bluestarchronicles.com\/2007\/01\/13\/barbara-boxer-versus-condoleeza-rice-round-1\/\">wingnut blogs<\/a> all the way over to <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4025\">the <i>NYTimes<\/i> fell for<\/a>, but he was fairly well shut down by both Eleanor Clift <em>and<\/em> Pat Buchanan. But given <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4031\"><em>Wash Times&#8217;<\/em> extraordinarily and purposely twisted &#8220;reporting&#8221;<\/a> we saw over the weekend (&#8220;Democrats&#8221; suggested &#8220;the secretary&#8217;s childlessness, race and sex are to blame for mistakes in Iraq,&#8221; distorted the White House Organ and Tony Snow&#8217;s old stomping ground), we&#8217;re not surprised at Blankley&#8217;s attempts to do the WH&#8217;s bidding.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s only a shame that Lawrence O&#8217;Donnell wasn&#8217;t sitting in with &#8216;The Group&#8217; this week.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, O&#8217;Reilly keeps up the disingenuous (or uninformed, take your pick) attacks as he was on all morning about Boxer&#8217;s non-existent &#8220;attack&#8221; on Rice, as if any such attack actually occurred, on his <i>Radio Factor<\/i>. Hey, Bill: You can read the <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=4022\"><em>transcript<\/em> of the exchange here<\/a>, or you can look at the actual video above. Or you can continue to misinform your listeners and viewers. Either way, I continue to make myself <a href=\"mailto:Brad@BradBlog.com\">available to you<\/a> if you wish to interview <i>me<\/i> on the matter, as I&#8217;m the guy who originally <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=3996\">wrote the question<\/a> that Boxer asked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/article\/0,,20004374,00.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/Bush_LauraBush.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\"><\/a>Beyond that, perhaps the tide is turning as folks are beginning to see this whole shameless phony Rightwing twist\/smear for what it really is. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/nora-ephron\/condis-diary_b_38619.html\">Nora Ephron over at HuffPo<\/a>, after pointing out apparently-not-&#8220;outrageous&#8221;-at-all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/article\/0,,20004374,00.html\">comments made Laura Bush about Condi<\/a> before year&#8217;s end &#8212; <b>&#8220;Dr. Rice, who I think would be a really good candidate, is not interested. Probably because she is single, her parents are no longer living, she&#8217;s an only child. You need a very supportive family and supportive friends to have this job.&#8221;<\/b> &#8212; goes on to give us a peek at &#8220;Condi&#8217;s Diary.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>By way of necessary reminder, here&#8217;s the way Boxer <i>actually<\/i> prefaced her question about WH casualty estimates (or the apparent lack thereof):<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">BOXER: Who pays the price? I&#8217;m not going to pay a personal price. My kids are too old and my grandchild is too young. You&#8217;re not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with an immediate family. So who pays the price? The American military and their families. And I just want to bring us back to that fact.<\/div>\n<p>As you see, she said nothing about Rice not having the moral authority to make such choices, didn&#8217;t attack her childlessness or her singleness or her sex or her race or anything at all, as has been wildly, widely, and wholly inaccurately &#8220;reported&#8221; by <em>Wash Times<\/em>, O&#8217;Reilly, Snow and friends&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A sample from &#8220;Condi&#8217;s Diary&#8221; by Nephron follows below.
