Her proposal called for keeping any such adjustment to the rules in place no matter which party was in the Majority.  Hastert, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A680-2004Jun23.html\">refused even the courtesy<\/a> of a reply.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Republican members are circulating a &#8220;Dear Colleague&#8221; letter to gain support for such a bill. Now that <i>they<\/i> are in the minority, of course.
