{"id":342,"date":"2004-07-26T21:40:14","date_gmt":"2004-07-27T01:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.test.bradblog.com\/?p=342"},"modified":"2004-07-26T21:40:14","modified_gmt":"2004-07-27T01:40:14","slug":"fair-balanced-coverage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=342","title":{"rendered":"Fair &#038; Balanced Coverage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/FoxFairBalanced.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"left\">Since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/newsArticle.jhtml?type=politicsNews&#038;storyID=5777831&#038;src=rss\/ElectionCoverage&#038;section=news\" target=\"_blank\">the big boy bloggers all got invitations to the Convention<\/a> (yeah, yeah, I might have as well, had I gotten them a copy of my passport in time, but never mind that!) I guess it&#8217;s left to duffers like me to cover the coverage that they&#8217;re missing since they&#8217;re all in the hall itself, and don&#8217;t get to watch it on TV!<\/p>\n<p>Switching back and forth between Fox and CNN during Clinton&#8217;s speech was telling for a start.<\/p>\n<p>Fox was continuously breaking away from their shot of Clinton as he was speaking, to folks in the audience with funny hats, dark skin or, in at least one case, a guy who was either reading his program or falling asleep. (It seems unlikely he was falling asleep, but I have no doubt that&#8217;s why Fox chose to go to that shot). CNN, for the most part, stayed on Clinton while he was speaking, breaking away only during applause breaks.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, it was after Clinton&#8217;s speech that &#8220;Fair &#038; Balanced&#8221; really came into play for Fox as they analyzed it up in the booth.<\/p>\n<p>The panel&#8230;<br \/>\nOn the Right: Brit Hume, Bill Krystol, Mort Kondracke and Fred Barnes<br \/>\nOn the Left (sorta): Maura Liason<\/p>\n<p>We report, you decide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since the big boy bloggers all got invitations to the Convention (yeah, yeah, I might have as well, had I gotten them a copy of my passport in time, but never mind that!)
