In case you don’t know, the ballots from the 2004 Presidential Election in Ohio have never actually been counted<\/i>. Or even recounted.<\/p>\n
The “official” recount, called for by the Green and Libertarian Parties in the state, was gamed and carried out completely against state law by Ohio’s Sec. of State (and Bush\/Cheney’s Re-Election Committee Co-Chair) J. Kenneth Blackwell.<\/p>\n
The Green and Libertarian Parties are still challenging<\/a> that recount in Federal Court. As well, two Cuyahoga County Election Officials were indicted last August<\/a> for gaming that (non)recount.<\/p>\n And today, AP informs us<\/a>, a third one has just been nabbed as well…<\/p>\n Jacqueline Maiden is the third board worker charged with six counts alleging that Ohio laws were not followed in the selection and review of ballots for the recount. Two other board workers, Rosie Grier and Kathleen Dreamer, were indicted in August and scheduled for trial May 8. Dreamer was the manager of the board’s ballot department and Grier was an assistant manager.<\/p><\/div>\n Amazingly enough — or perhaps not, since this is<\/i> Ohio, after all, where the rule of law no longer actually applies — the story also reports that “All three [indicted] employees continue to work at the board.”<\/p>\n Sure you have, Bob. We all feel much better.
