{"id":2121,"date":"2005-12-05T18:49:17","date_gmt":"2005-12-05T22:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.test.bradblog.com\/?p=2121"},"modified":"2005-12-05T18:49:17","modified_gmt":"2005-12-05T22:49:17","slug":"fox-news-alert-distorts-court-decision-in-tom-delay-criminal-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=2121","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Fox News Alert&#8217; Distorts Court Decision in Tom DeLay Criminal Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/TomDelayPouts_BW.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">As former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay received <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=10000087&#038;sid=a7eu6iSONWTs&#038;refer=top_world_news#\">troubling legal news<\/a> today in Texas where he&#8217;s been indicted on several charges related to money-laundering campaign contributions for Republican candidates, Fox &#8220;News&#8221; did their best to buck up the spirits of &#8220;The Hammer&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The judge in the case rejected DeLay&#8217;s motion to drop all charges, though he did toss out one charge for &#8220;conspiracy&#8221; which hadn&#8217;t yet been against the law in Texas at the time DeLay allegedly conspired.  The decision now paves the way for the criminal trial to begin and for DeLay to be permanently replaced in his House leadership position.<\/p>\n<p>But we hope you &#8220;Fair and Balanced&#8221; zombies out there will note how it was reported via several different Email Alerts today:<\/p>\n<p>From Yahoo Email Alert&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">Subject: Breaking News<\/p>\n<p>AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A Texas judge has refused to dismiss money laundering charges against Rep. TOM DELAY<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sigh&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on the tube version of the above Alert, John Gibson&#8217;s plans to mislead are quashed by Judge Andrew Nepalitano who manages to sneak a bit of truth past the Fox police:<br \/>\n&#8212;  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ameratsu.com\/media\/vid\/fox\/fox_bs_delay_laundering_charges_051205a.wmv\">Fox News Video in Windows Media format&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And yet, despite FNC&#8217;s failure to inform Americans about what&#8217;s <i>really<\/i> going on in their Government (or perhaps more accurately, their demonstrated attempt to <i>mis<\/i>inform them), it seems the message is getting out anyway.
