The political apocalypse we predicted for the day(s) after the 2018 midterm &#8212; from problems counting ballots to Trump&#8217;s &#8220;burn it all down&#8221; response to the results &#8212; appears to be playing out in a number of ways today.  We have several big news items today regarding reported results in Florida, Arizona and Georgia on today&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/BradCast\"><i>BradCast<\/i><\/a>. [<i>Audio link to full show posted below.<\/i>]\n<p>But first today, we needed to hit several disturbing breaking news headlines&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>12 people were killed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/shooting-reported-borderline-bar-grill-thousand-oaks-california-n933831\">mass shooting<\/a> at the Borderline Bar &#038; Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA, a wealthy suburb just outside of Los Angeles in Ventura County, during it&#8217;s popular country music college night. The shooter, who took his own life, was reportedly a 28-year old white male Marine combat veteran thought to be suffering from PTSD. Victims are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/11\/08\/us\/shooting-victims-thousand-oaks\/index.html\">said to include<\/a> the bar&#8217;s security guard, an armed Sheriff&#8217;s deputy, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2018\/11\/09\/thousand-oaks-parents-i-dont-want-prayers-i-dont-want-thoughts-i-want-gun-control\/?utm_term=.1e1b9758876e\">a survivor of the October 2017 massacre<\/a> in Las Vegas that killed 58 and left more than 800 wounded;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>85-year old U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg was reportedly hospitalized on Thursday, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apnews.com\/5cb91423ce954e1d8520eba25fc9262a\">fracturing three ribs<\/a> in a fall in her office;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A three-judge panel on the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/appeals-court-rules-against-trump-on-daca-immigrant-policy\/2018\/11\/08\/5ecf772c-e388-11e8-ba30-a7ded04d8fac_story.html?utm_term=.634ad63fd281\">ruled<\/a> that the Trump Administration&#8217;s attempt to kill President Obama&#8217;s 2012 DACA program was likely done so in violation of the law. For now, the protection from deportation for hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought here as children will stay in place, though the Administration has filed for a quick ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The White House has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/07\/us\/politics\/trump-cnn-acosta-white-house.html\">barred CNN&#8217;s Jim Acosta<\/a> from the White House, after the President&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/11\/07\/politics\/donald-trump-press-conference-election-2018\/index.html\">bonkers<\/a> post-election press conference on Wednesday.  The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2018\/11\/white-house-revokes-jim-acosta-credentials\">White House lied<\/a> about their reasons for doing so, despite video of the presser revealing their blatant lie;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And Trump&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/07\/us\/politics\/sessions-resigns.html\">firing<\/a> of Attorney General Jeff Sessions on the day after the midterms is quickly leading to a full-on <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/415716-manchin-were-on-the-verge-of-a-constitutional-crisis-due-to-sessions\">Constitutional Crisis<\/a>, as he has named Matthew Whitaker, a former political operative and opponent of Robert Mueller&#8217;s Special Counsel investigation, as Acting AG responsible for overseeing that probe. Normally, the Deputy AG  &#8212; Rod Rosenstein, who had been overseeing it following Sessions&#8217; recusal &#8212; would fill that role. It&#8217;s feared Whitaker, a Trump loyalist, is likely to move to scuttle the Mueller investigation at any moment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, the fight to count votes continues to grow predictably uglier in several states following Tuesday&#8217;s contentious midterms. Democrats are now said to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/elections\/democrats-rack-more-gains-house-key-tight-races-are-called-n934066\">picked up at least 31 seats<\/a> in the U.S. House, taking back control of the chamber from Republicans, with analysts forecasting that they could end up winning as many as 38 new seats, as votes continue to be tabulated and canvassed across the country. But there are growing concerns about computer-tabulated results in U.S. Senate and Governors races in at least three different states tonight&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In <b>Florida<\/b>, a &#8220;recount&#8221; now appears inevitable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2018\/11\/08\/florida-senate-elections-scott-nelson-2018-recount-975805\">in the U.S. Senate race<\/a> between incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and his Republican challenger Gov. Rick Scott, with the margin between the two at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/elections\/results\/florida-senate\">less than 0.22%<\/a> as of airtime. That would trigger an automatic statewide hand count in the Sunshine State. But there remain many questions about uncounted provisional and absentee ballots, as well as tens of thousands of suspicious undervotes in the Senate race reported by the paper ballot computer tabulators in Broward County. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SteveKornacki\/status\/1060611294183804928\">Some 25,000 voters<\/a>, according to the computers, voted for down-ticket races like Agricultural Commission, but failed to vote in the top-of-the-ticket U.S. Senate race?\n<p>In the state&#8217;s gubernatorial election, Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis&#8217; lead over Democratic Mayor Andrew Gillum, has now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/florida-politics\/buzz\/2018\/11\/08\/gillum-desantis-race-now-in-recount-range\/\">fallen to 0.47 percent<\/a>. If it stays below 0.5 percent, it would trigger an automatic machine &#8220;recount&#8221; statewide. (The margin must be below .25 percent for a hand count in Florida.) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In <b>Arizona<\/b>, there are nearly three-quarters of a million completely <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VaughnHillyard\/status\/1060251726467469312\">uncounted ballots<\/a> across the state, leaving the results of the highly-contested and very close U.S. Senate race between Republican Martha McSally and Democrat Kyrsten Sinema in doubt. Arizona sources tell me that this many still-uncounted early and absentee ballots is now unusual for the state. But with all eyes on whether Democrats can flip the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Jeff Flake blue, a lot more people are now noticing. Sinema currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2018\/11\/06\/us\/elections\/results-arizona-elections.html\">leads<\/a> McSally by about one-half of a percentage point, according to the latest computer-tabulated numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And in <b>Georgia<\/b>, attorneys for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams held a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/video\/politics\/stacey-abrams-campaign-this-falls-at-the-feet-of-brian-kemp\/2018\/11\/08\/6fcc6ee4-e37f-11e8-ba30-a7ded04d8fac_video.html\">news conference<\/a> today, in which they offered a blistering response to Sec. of State Brian Kemp&#8217;s declaration of victory in the Governor&#8217;s race, and his belated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/gop-rep-karen-handel-concedes-to-anti-gun-violence-advocate-lucy-mcbath-in-closely-watched-georgia-race\/2018\/11\/08\/7d82eb7e-e359-11e8-b759-3d88a5ce9e19_story.html?utm_term=.933c53e8a017\">resignation<\/a> as SoS along with it. Team Abrams charges there are thousands of wrongly rejected and still-uncounted ballots in the state, though &#8212; thanks to Kemp&#8217;s horrific administration of the election &#8212; they are unable to know how many there actually are and how many voters were unlawfully prevented from voting at all.
