[<i>Audio link to show is posted below.<\/i>]\n<p>Among the stories covered towards that end on today&#8217;s program&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apnews.com\/ba8cfed36b78488ea34c762e3cbd24ef\">record-breaking<\/a> number of women are now running for Congress, and the filing deadlines haven&#8217;t even passed in half of the states;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Sinclair Broadcasting Group&#8217;s insidious <a href=\"https:\/\/theconcourse.deadspin.com\/how-americas-largest-local-tv-owner-turned-its-news-anc-1824233490\">misuse<\/a> of our public airwaves for rightwing pro-Trump propaganda purposes finally begins to <a href=\"https:\/\/talkingpointsmemo.com\/dc\/durbin-requests-policy-sinclair\">catch the attention<\/a> of Democrats in Congress, as company executives <a href=\"https:\/\/mobile.nytimes.com\/2018\/04\/04\/business\/media\/sinclairs-boss-responds-to-criticism-you-cant-be-serious.html\">mouth off<\/a> with pathetic excuses, former employees <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/opinion-weiss-sinclair-television-propaganda_us_5ac2c6d4e4b09712fec38b95\">speak out<\/a>, some staffers <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2018\/04\/04\/media\/sinclair-producer-resigns-protest\/index.html\">resign in protest<\/a>, and others, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/entertainment\/article\/WOAI-anchor-Delaine-Mathieu-on-Sinclair-promos-12806330.php#photo-13994046\">embarrassed<\/a> by being forced to read on-air nonsense from their owners, find reasonable excuses for not quitting (such as outrageously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-04-03\/sinclair-employees-say-their-contracts-make-it-too-expensive-to-quit\">onerous contract terms<\/a>) at once-respected TV news outlets now controlled by the nation&#8217;s largest owner of television stations;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Teachers in so-called &#8220;red&#8221; states like Oklahoma, Kentucky, Arizona and West Virginia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenation.com\/article\/oklahoma-teachers-strike-for-a-fourth-day-to-protest-rock-bottom-education-funding\/\">continue<\/a> walkouts to push back against state education budgets that have been slashed in recent years to pay for huge tax cuts to wealthy corporations in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/kansas-experiment-with-tax-cutting-failed-on-its-own-terms-2017-6\">failed experiments<\/a> with supposedly &#8220;pro-growth&#8221; Reaganomics;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And while Republican officials in those states have made clear they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/education\/wp\/2018\/04\/04\/oklahoma-governor-compares-striking-teachers-to-a-a-teenage-kid-that-wants-a-better-car\/?utm_term=.f859c8f007ce\">only pretending<\/a> to give a damn about kids, their pretend love for coal miners has also been exposed as a lie in Kentucky, where lawmakers just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2018\/03\/31\/598484688\/kentucky-lawmakers-limit-black-lung-claims-reviews-despite-epidemic?utm_source=twitter.com&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_campaign=npr&#038;utm_term=nprnews&#038;utm_content=20180401\">made it much more difficult<\/a> for miners to receive compensation amid an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2016\/12\/15\/505577680\/advanced-black-lung-cases-surge-in-appalachia\">epidemic surge<\/a> of deadly black lung disease cases;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The jaw-dropping corruption scandals of EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/04\/05\/business\/epa-officials-questioned-scott-pruitt.html\">continue to be revealed<\/a> on a daily basis.
