Rick Scott (R) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/weather\/hurricane\/article106488297.html\">refuses<\/a> to extend the state&#8217;s voter registration deadline, despite major registration drives planned for this weekend forced to be cancelled due to the state emergency and (perhaps because of) the fact that 50,000 voter registered during the same <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/elections\/florida-gov-rick-scott-under-fire-voter-registration-decision-n661796\">last minute time-frame<\/a> in 2012. (Meanwhile, in GOP-leaning South Carolina, Republican Gov. Nikki Hailey <i>has<\/i> extended the deadline in her state.)<\/p>\n<p>In Wisconsin, voter suppression continues as the state&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/the-catch-22-that-could-hand-wisconsins-electoral-votes-to-trump-27d6b8668fce#.a1alvbutx\">lie to a federal court<\/a> about the availability of Photo IDs at DMVs continues to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenation.com\/article\/a-90-year-old-woman-whos-voted-since-1948-was-disenfranchised-by-wisconsins-voter-id-law\/\">disenfranchise 90-year old women<\/a> and many others, and, thanks to a new law by state Republicans, thousands of absentee ballots are now at risk of being <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2016\/10\/07\/absentee-ballots-risk-being-tossed\/91728826\/\">tossed<\/a> altogether in the Badger State.<\/p>\n<p>In Ohio, absentee ballots and provisionals are being tossed out for technical reasons in urban areas but not rural areas, and a federal appeals court has, once again, <a href=\"http:\/\/electionlawblog.org\/?p=87282\">declined<\/a> to take action. All of that while <a href=\"http:\/\/talkingpointsmemo.com\/livewire\/trump-border-patrol-undocumented-immigrants-voting\">Trump and Republicans<\/a> continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/electionlawblog.org\/?p=87096\">lie about non-citizens voting<\/a> <i>and<\/i> as the U.S. Dept. of Justice, for the first time in 50 years, will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/justice-department-severely-curtails-election-observers-inside-polling-places-this-november\/2016\/10\/06\/dfb49caa-875a-11e6-92c2-14b64f3d453f_story.html\">unable to deploy<\/a> hundreds of polling place monitors in states with a history of racial discrimination, thanks to the 2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10094\">gutting<\/a> of the federal Voting Rights Act by the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in 2008, young Jewish voters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AgHHX9R4Qtk\">worked<\/a> to turn out their elderly Jewish grandparents for Barack Obama in Florida.
