{"id":11239,"date":"2015-06-23T16:52:24","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T23:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=11239"},"modified":"2015-06-23T17:19:15","modified_gmt":"2015-06-24T00:19:15","slug":"fox-news-bill-oreilly-all-their-racist-viewers-bradcast-6232015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=11239","title":{"rendered":"Fox &#8216;News&#8217;, Bill O&#8217;Reilly &#038; All Their Racist Viewers: &#8216;BradCast&#8217; 6\/23\/2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/BradCast_FoxNewsNumber1WithRacists_062315.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">Fallout continues &#8212; much of it <i>surprisingly<\/i> encouraging, thankfully &#8212; following last week&#8217;s racist terrorist shooting at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston.<\/p>\n<p>In its wake, I spoke to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.demos.org\/sean-mcelwee\">Sean McElwee of Demos<\/a> on today&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/BradCast\"><i>BradCast<\/i><\/a> about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2015\/06\/23\/fox_news_shocking_racism_effect_the_alarming_statistical_relationships_underneath_conservative_viewing_habits\/\">his new study<\/a> comparing the racist views of white Fox &#8216;News&#8217; viewers versus white non-Fox &#8216;News&#8217; viewers, and self-identified &#8220;conservative&#8221; Fox &#8216;News&#8217; viewers with &#8220;conservatives&#8221; who don&#8217;t watch Fox.<\/p>\n<p>He describes the findings as &#8220;a deep indictment of the way that Fox News portrays the news.&#8221; The analysis also examines whether regular viewers of Fox&#8217; <i>The O&#8217;Reilly Factor<\/i> are more racist than Fox &#8216;News&#8217; viewers who do not regularly watch O&#8217;Reilly. The results, as they&#8217;d say on <i>The Factor<\/i>, will shock you! (Or not.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s very clear that Fox News is playing on the racism and the latent racial resentment of many whites in the country,&#8221; McElwee tells me. &#8220;You can see that on their coverage of the &#8216;ground zero mosque&#8217;. You can see that on their coverage of the Trayvon Martin case. It&#8217;s very clear.&#8221;  But does that racist coverage rub off on their viewers or vice versa?
