{"id":11059,"date":"2015-03-03T11:21:40","date_gmt":"2015-03-03T19:21:40","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-03-03T11:53:23","modified_gmt":"2015-03-03T19:53:23","slug":"warmest-winter-records-shattered-in-west-but-reporters-still-wont-say-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=11059","title":{"rendered":"Warmest Winter Records Shattered in West, But Reporters Still Won&#8217;t Say &#8216;Climate Change&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/jkuphotos\/15615063683\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/UnseasonablyWarm_BikeWeatherInSaltLakeCityUT_JamesUdall_0115.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\"><\/a>Watching network television news, you&#8217;d think the entire Earth had entered an Ice Age just because it&#8217;s been cold in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>While February was unusually cold in the Northeast and Midwest, what&#8217;s not being mentioned on TV is that records have been falling on the high end of the temperature scale for the entire winter across a broad swath of the West and Pacific Northwest:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather.com reports that more than 20 cities out west, including San Francisco, Sacramento and Las Vegas had their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.com\/news\/climate\/news\/warmest-winter-on-record-2014-2015\">warmest winters on record<\/a>, adding, &#8220;In case you&#8217;re wondering, few if any cities in the East will have their coldest winters on record despite a series of high-profile blizzards and record cold waves &#8211; mainly because December was relatively mild.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>KOMOnews.com reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.komonews.com\/weather\/blogs\/scott\/Seattle-sets-twin-records-for-warmest-February-winter-on-record-294516031.html\">Seattle had its warmest winter on record<\/a>, &#8220;obliterating&#8221; the old record by 1.4 degrees. In neighboring Oregon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/weather\/index.ssf\/2015\/03\/5_things_you_might_not_know_ab.html#incart_m-rpt-1\">Portland broke its winter warmth record<\/a> and Salem topped 50 degrees every day in February, the first time that&#8217;s ever happened.<\/li>\n<li>And <em>The Salt Lake Tribune<\/em> reports Salt Lake City had both its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sltrib.com\/news\/2236851-155\/salt-lake-citys-winter-was-the\">warmest and least snowy winter on record<\/a>, the latter being the bigger concern as the West heads towards fire season. &#8220;Things are much more dry and, frankly, more ready to burn &#8220;\u00a6 than in [recent] memory,&#8221; Jason Curry, spokesman for the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, told the Tribune.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What do all of these articles have in common? Not one mentions climate change.
