{"id":10995,"date":"2015-01-05T18:05:14","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T02:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=10995"},"modified":"2015-01-05T18:08:47","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T02:08:47","slug":"oh-yeah-jebs-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10995","title":{"rendered":"Oh, Yeah, Jeb&#8217;s Running&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/JebBush_hand.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">As Florida prepares to become the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/community\/miami-dade\/article5439081.html\">36th state in the union to follow the Constitution<\/a> and allow marriage equality after midnight tonight, Jeb Bush is still <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2014\/12\/16\/jeb-bush-presidential-race-exploring\/20475727\/\">trying to figure<\/a> out how to win the 2016 nomination for President from the base of the Republican Party, while still maintaining viability for a national general election.<\/p>\n<p>When asked over the weekend, after a round of golf, to comment on court rulings that will lead to same-sex marriage becoming legal across the Sunshine State on Tuesday (and already today in Miami-Dade County), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/local\/community\/miami-dade\/article5410317.html\">Bush muttered to the <i>Miami Herald<\/i><\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">&#8220;It ought be a local decision. I mean, a state decision,&#8221; the former governor said Sunday in a brief interview. &#8220;The state decided. The people of the state decided. But it&#8217;s been overturned by the courts, I guess.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p>After the comment was met with criticism from advocates of the Constitution as well as Miami-Dade&#8217;s <i>Republican<\/i> mayor who said he &#8220;believes adults should be free to marry whomever they desire&#8221; and that he &#8220;respects anyone&#8217;s right to marry, gay or straight,&#8221; Jeb attempted a mulligan and offered the <a href=\"http:\/\/talkingpointsmemo.com\/livewire\/jeb-bush-gay-marriage-show-respect-people-all-sides\">following<\/a>, almost impossibly non-committal, have-it-all-ways official statement<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">We live in a democracy, and regardless of our disagreements, we have to respect the rule of law. I hope that we can show respect for the good people on all sides of the gay and lesbian marriage issue &#8211; including couples making lifetime commitments to each other who are seeking greater legal protections and those of us who believe marriage is a sacrament and want to safeguard religious liberty.<\/div>\n<p>Oh, yeah. He&#8217;s running.<\/p>\n<p>Seems like he should have been <i>way<\/i> better prepared for this one, given the amount of lead time he&#8217;s had to concoct a position &#8212; any position &#8212; on it, and given, as @LOLGOP tweeted today&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-partner=\"tweetdeck\">\n<p>Add same-sex marriage to the list of wars George W.
