{"id":10933,"date":"2014-11-11T07:02:47","date_gmt":"2014-11-11T15:02:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=10933"},"modified":"2014-11-10T23:00:20","modified_gmt":"2014-11-11T07:00:20","slug":"a-very-smart-post-about-why-touch-screen-voting-can-never-work-from-a-guy-named-potatohead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10933","title":{"rendered":"A Very Smart Post About Why Touch-Screen Voting Can Never Work From a Guy Named &#8216;Potatohead&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/PAPrimary_042208_DieboldTouchscreenSmashed_Allentown_240.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">This is a <i>very<\/i> smart post, particularly from someone calling themselves &#8220;potatohead&#8221; at DailyKos: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/story\/2014\/11\/06\/1342645\/-About-Touch-Screen-Voting\">&#8220;About Touch Screen Voting&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d quote something from it, but then you&#8217;d be less likely to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/story\/2014\/11\/06\/1342645\/-About-Touch-Screen-Voting\">click over and read the whole thing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The author has <i>almost<\/i> everything <i>exactly<\/i> right, discussing concepts that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.BradBlog.com\">BRAD BLOG<\/a> readers should understand very very well by now, but using different words than I usually do, so it may help everything soak in a bit more.<\/p>\n<p>He (presuming a &#8220;he&#8221; here) even extends his explanation of the inherent, unfixable problem that make touch-screen voting systems 100% unverifiable (and, therefore, antithetical to American democracy) to explain why both &#8220;open source&#8221; computer voting systems and Internet Voting can&#8217;t work either, for the same reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Only quibble: He needs to put the word &#8220;hand-&#8221; before the words &#8220;marked ballots&#8221; and we&#8217;d be 100% golden.
