{"id":10468,"date":"2014-01-20T12:27:12","date_gmt":"2014-01-20T20:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=10468"},"modified":"2014-01-20T12:26:28","modified_gmt":"2014-01-20T20:26:28","slug":"mlk-day-irony-accomplished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10468","title":{"rendered":"MLK Day Irony Accomplished"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/Monopoly_RichUncle.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?author=107\">Ernie Canning<\/a> dropped me an email this morning linking to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/business\/money\/la-fi-mo-oxfam-world-economic-forum-income-inequality-20140120,0,7080817.story#ixzz2qyIKzQRe\">this article in today&#8217;s <i>LA Times<\/i><\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">The 85 richest people on Earth have the same amount of wealth as the bottom half of the population, according to a new report that highlights growing income inequality as political and business leaders gather for the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>Those wealthy individuals are a small part of the richest 1% of the population, which combined owns about 46% of global wealth, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfam.org\/en\/policy\/working-for-the-few-economic-inequality\">report<\/a> from British humanitarian group Oxfam International.<\/p>\n<p>The study found the richest 1% had $110 trillion in wealth &#8212; 65 times the total wealth of the bottom half of the population.<\/p>\n<p>That bottom half of the population owned about $1.7 trillion, or about 0.7% of the world&#8217;s wealth.
