{"id":10183,"date":"2013-08-08T06:05:17","date_gmt":"2013-08-08T13:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=10183"},"modified":"2013-11-27T22:10:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-28T06:10:00","slug":"kpfk-bradcast-dan-froomkin-on-why-the-sale-of-washington-post-matters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10183","title":{"rendered":"KPFK &#8216;BradCast&#8217;: Dan Froomkin on Why the Sale of Washington Post Matters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/BradBlog.com\/Images\/BradCast_GrahamsSellWashingtonPost.jpg\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\">I was joined on this week&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/kpfk.org\">KPFK<\/a>\/Pacifica Radio <i>BradCast<\/i> by Dan Froomkin, formerly of the <i>Washington Post<\/i>, where he worked for more than a decade before becoming Washington Bureau Chief for the Huffington Post before becoming the founder of the soon-to-be-launched Center for Accountability Journalism at <a href=\"http:\/\/FearlessMedia.org\">FearlessMedia.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>My first question to him: Why should anyone in the public, other than journalism industry insiders, actually care that Amazon founder <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/technology\/the-sale-of-the-washington-post-how-the-unthinkable-choice-became-the-clear-path\/2013\/08\/06\/46216532-fed7-11e2-9711-3708310f6f4d_print.html\">Jeff Bezos bought the <i>Washington Post<\/i><\/a> this week?<\/p>\n<p>His response to that question and others on the recent shameful history and hopeful future of journalism were much more optimistic than mine &#8212; but, as I note during the show, I really need a break (which I hope to get somewhere in the mountains next week), so I may be a even more cynical this week than usual.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of cynicism, I also ranted a bit on the <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10181\">United States of Fear and Redaction<\/a>, on <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10168\">CA Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley&#8217;s vote<\/a> to continue violating her constituents&#8217; and every American&#8217;s civil liberties, and even found some time to offer some improbable <a href=\"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10179\">kudos to WI Republican Rep.
