{"id":10127,"date":"2013-07-15T12:35:33","date_gmt":"2013-07-15T19:35:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradblog.com\/?p=10127"},"modified":"2013-07-15T12:34:43","modified_gmt":"2013-07-15T19:34:43","slug":"bachmann-not-crying-wolf-claims-obama-let-any-latina-under-age-30-vote-in-2012-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bradblog.com\/?p=10127","title":{"rendered":"Bachmann, &#8216;Not Crying Wolf&#8217;, Claims Obama Let Any &#8216;Latina Under Age 30&#8217; Vote in 2012 [VIDEO]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN), a one-time leading contender for the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination, may have topped herself with this one&#8230;and that is no easy feat. <a href=\"http:\/\/maddowblog.msnbc.com\/_news\/2013\/07\/15\/19487749-bachmann-explains-the-way-we-spank-the-president\">Steve Benen at MaddowBlog<\/a> describes these remarks, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/bachmann-congress-needs-spank-president-and-take-away-his-magic-wand\">flagged by RightWingWatch today<\/a>, as &#8220;one of the greatest Bachmann videos of all time&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe width=\"420\" height=\"236\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3KIC3Jc6rz4\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the amazing transcript, and a very few remarks (not many are needed) on the astounding gibberish Bachmann offers, with apparent complete earnestness, in the above video&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"media\">BACHMANN: Contrary to popular opinion, Republicans won&#8217;t get patted on the back or get new votes because of passing amnesty. They&#8217;re going to get blamed. And it&#8217;s my prediction that the House Republicans could put themselves in a position where they could actually lose the gavel in 2014, because I think the president, even by executive order, can again wave his magic wand before 2014 and he&#8217;d say now all of the new, legal Americans are going to have voting rights.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Why do I say that? He did it in 2012. Do you remember? Anyone who was here as a Latina under age 30, he said, &#8216;You get to vote.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>What? He decides you get to vote? If he did it 2012, know &#8212; take it to the bank &#8212; he&#8217;ll do in 2014. And then guess what will happen? Democrat in the White House; Democrats controlling the Senate; Democrats controlling the House. At that point they will change election law, and it will be almost impossible to ever see a Republican majority again.<\/p>\n<p>Do we get how important this is? I&#8217;m not crying wolf here. This is working for the president. It&#8217;s not working for the American people, but, hey, it&#8217;s great by him. He has a perpetual magic wand and nobody&#8217;s given him a spanking yet and taken it out of his hand. That&#8217;s what Congress needs to do &#8212; give the president a major wake-up call. And the way we spank the president is we do it through the checkbook. We&#8217;re the ones who say, &#8216;No, you can&#8217;t have the money.&#8217; What&#8217;s wrong with us?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Benen, who brought this video to our attention, <a href=\"http:\/\/maddowblog.msnbc.com\/_news\/2013\/07\/15\/19487749-bachmann-explains-the-way-we-spank-the-president\">attempts to offer<\/a> at least a <i>cursory<\/i>, if snarky, fact-check for Bachmann&#8217;s madness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;President Obama does not have a &#8216;magic wand&#8217; that gives people voting rights,&#8221; he notes. And, no, &#8220;We don&#8217;t &#8216;remember&#8217; this&#8221; having happened in 2012, Benen adds, &#8220;because it didn&#8217;t happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The president allowed Dream Act kids to stay in the country, but he did not give them the right to vote.
